Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien officially takes office

Comrade Nguyen Hong Dien officially took office on April 12, after being approved by the National Assembly and the President signed the decision to appoint the Minister of Industry and Trade.

This morning (April 12), in Hanoi, the Ministry of Industry and Trade held a conference to implement the Resolutions and decisions of the Party and State on personnel work.

Attending the event were Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia, along with representatives of the Central Organizing Committee, the Central Propaganda Department, the Central Party Office and leaders of the Ministry, departments, institutes, and units of the industry and trade sector.

Previously, on January 31, 2021, at the First Conference of the 13th Party Central Committee, Comrade Tran Tuan Anh, Minister of Industry and Trade, was elected to the 13th Politburo. On February 5, 2021, the Politburo assigned Comrade Tran Tuan Anh, Politburo member, to hold the position of Head of the Central Economic Commission.

On April 8, 2021, at the 11th Session of the 14th National Assembly, Comrade Nguyen Hong Dien, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, was approved by the National Assembly to be appointed as Minister of Industry and Trade.

Also on April 8, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed a decision to appoint Nguyen Hong Dien as Minister of Industry and Trade for the 2016-2021 term. On April 9, the Party Central Committee decided to appoint Nguyen Hong Dien as Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Based on the above decisions, the Ministry of Industry and Trade deploys tasks for the new Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

Congratulating the new Minister of Industry and Trade, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, asked comrade Nguyen Hong Dien to promote tradition and solidarity to build an increasingly strong industry and trade sector, making worthy contributions to the economy and development of the country.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien said that with 30 years of working locally, holding most of the key positions at district and provincial levels, directly leading and directing Party and State policies and guidelines at the local level, this work process has given him many "valuable lessons" on working methods in assigned positions.

In the upcoming work, he emphasized: "The most important thing is that we know how to gather and promote the industry's traditions, promote collective strength, especially the collective executive committee and the collective leadership of the Ministry; at the same time, we must continue to strengthen the relationship to expand cooperation and connection with central and local departments, ministries, branches nationwide and foreign partners..."

According to the Minister, over the past 15 years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has inherited and promoted glorious traditions, demonstrated solidarity and unity, and successfully completed the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.

"There are many advantages and many difficulties, but the Ministry will promote the glorious tradition and achievements, clearly recognize the pioneering mission and responsibility of the industry, focus on overcoming shortcomings, especially promoting the role of the Party Executive Committee and the organization of cadres, promoting administrative reform, enhancing decentralization, individualizing the responsibilities of those who are decentralized, promoting the exemplary responsibility of Party members and leaders at each level and each unit, paying attention to encouraging the spirit of civil servants and public employees to be excited and confident in fulfilling their responsibilities", the new Minister of Industry and Trade emphasized./.

Comrade Nguyen Hong Dien, born in 1965, hometown in Hong Minh commune, Hung Ha district, Thai Binh province.

From August 2018 to April 2020, he was elected to the Party Central Committee, 12th tenure; Secretary of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee, 19th tenure; Chairman of the Thai Binh Provincial People's Council, 16th tenure. Delegate to the 14th National Assembly, member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee.

From May 2020 to January 2021, he was assigned to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department. Delegate of the 14th National Assembly, member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee.

From February 2021 to April 2021, elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department. Delegate of the 14th National Assembly, member of the National Assembly's Finance and Budget Committee. Participated in the Party Delegation of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, holding the position of Vice President of the Union for the 2020-2025 term.

At the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly, he was elected Minister of Industry and Trade of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
