Minister of Transport offers incense at Truong Bon

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of September 22, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport Truong Quang Nghia led a delegation of the Ministry to offer incense and flowers at Truong Bon Relic Site (Do Luong District), opening a 2-day working trip in Nghe An.

The delegation was also accompanied by Deputy Minister of Transport Le Dinh Tho and representatives of the Ministry's Office, inspectors, and affiliated departments.

The delegation offered incense at the Memorial House of Heroes and Martyrs.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Nguyen Dac Vinh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Xuan Duong - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and a number of leaders of departments, branches and sectors.

The delegation paid tribute to the heroic martyrs.

Truong Bon is a legendary place, a heroic relic marking the glorious feats of the Youth Volunteers in the resistance war against America to save the country.

Truong Bon is located on the only road, connecting the traffic arteries of the Northern rear to the Southern battlefield. Therefore, within 4 years from 1964 to 1968, the US army dropped nearly 20,000 bombs of all kinds here in an attempt to cut off this traffic artery.

Minister Truong Quang Nghia offered incense to commemorate the 13 heroic martyrs of Company 317 and heroic martyr Hoang Kim Giao.

Leaders of the Ministry of Transport and provincial leaders planted souvenir trees in the relic site.

At this location, 1,240 officers and soldiers bravely fought and sacrificed to ensure the smooth operation of the route. Especially the heroic sacrifice of 13 soldiers of the “Steel Squad”, “Suicide Squad” of the 317th Youth Volunteer Company on October 31, 1968 while on duty to connect the traffic arteries….

After offering incense and flowers at the Memorial House, Minister Truong Quang Nghiaplanted a memorial tree to show gratitude for the contributions of the heroic martyrs who made Truong Bon a legend.

This is the opening activity of the Ministry of Transport’s working trip to Nghe An. As scheduled, on September 23, Minister Truong Quang Nghia will have a working session with leaders of Nghe An province./.
