Since the 12th Session (July 2020), Vietnam-China relations have continued to maintain a growing trend; high-level and all-level exchanges have taken place regularly. China attaches importance to and has taken proactive steps to promote relations and coordinate well in preventing and fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many mechanisms for exchange and cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries have been maintained in a flexible manner; cooperation in various fields has made encouraging progress, especially in trade and investment. In addition, there are still some existing problems in bilateral cooperation, such as Vietnam's increasing trade deficit with China; difficulties and obstacles in some projects invested and contracted by China have been prolonged.

The overall land border situation remains stable. The two sides celebrated the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Border Treaty and the 10th anniversary of the implementation of three legal documents on the Vietnam-China land border in August 2020./.
