Russian Defense Minister outlines main tasks of special operation in Ukraine
(Baonghean.vn) - The Russian army will continue its special military campaign in Ukraine until it completes its goals, the main task of which is to protect Russia from external military threats from the West, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said.
"The Group of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will continue to conduct special military operations until the set goals are achieved," -Mr. Shoigusaid at a meeting on March 1. According to him, the special military operation is being carried out "to protect the people of Donbass, demilitarize and fascize Ukraine".

"The main thing for us is to protect the Russian Federation from the military threat created by Western countries trying to use Ukrainians in the war against our country," the minister said. He stressed that the Russian army "does not occupy Ukrainian territory, takes all measures to preserve the life and safety of civilians."
"I would like to emphasize that strikes were carried out only on military targets and only with high-precision weapons," - said the Defense Minister.
On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the West is not allowed to build military facilities in any country that was part of the former Soviet Union. The head of Russian diplomacy stressed that Moscow cannot accept some European countries receiving US nuclear weapons. Russia is taking measures to prevent Ukraine from possessing similar weapons./.
