Minister of Public Security: Abolish household registration but not population management
The Ministry of Public Security said that abolishing household registration is to simplify administrative procedures but does not affect state management.
Sharing with the press on the sidelines of the National Assembly on the morning of November 6, Minister of Public Security To Lam said that the Government's recent Resolution 112 hasAbolish the form of population management by permanent residence registration using household registration books. However, "this is"Changes to simplify administrative procedures, not to abolish management."
Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau (Director of Nghe An Police) assessed that abolishing household registration is a "reasonable policy" and has been prepared for. This not only reduces procedures for the state apparatus to operate quickly and effectively, but also saves costs...
He explained that reforming administrative procedures and reducing paperwork with the requirement to strictly manage society is "not contradictory". "When there is doubt, the authorities will check, not just abolish the household registration book and stop checking," said Mr. Cau.
According to the Director of Nghe An Police, with the application of information technology developing very strongly, people going out on the street do not have to carry many types of identification papers anymore, but the authorities only need to check the identification code of that person on the system to be able to identify them immediately.
The Director of Nghe An Police shared that, as early as next year, local police will implement the removal of household registration management. "In Nghe An, all population data has been connected to the commune level, so if implemented now, it will be very fast," said the head of Nghe An police force.
