"What are the Americans doing in the Persian Gulf? They should leave the region to avoid creating inconveniences for the countries in the region," the media agency quoted the minister as saying.
"Is it acceptable that an armed robber breaks into someone's house and they roll out the red carpet in front of him? That is one of the barbarities of the present," said Hossein Dehgans.
Relations between the United States and Iran under the Donald Trump administration have become significantly strained. The current US President has stated that, in part, he will not be as friendly in his relationship with Iran as his predecessor, Barack Obama.
The new US president has been critical of the Iran nuclear deal reached between Tehran and the six international mediators "the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany" in 2015.
