Minister 'complains' tired of 40 meetings per week

August 25, 2016 14:33

There are up to 40 meetings every week, the most difficult thing is to send the deputy minister to attend the meetings instead.

Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung made the above statement at the working session of the Prime Minister's working group to inspect the implementation of tasks, conclusions and directions of the Government and Prime Minister this morning, August 25.

“The Ministry of Planning and Investment is a multi-sectoral, comprehensive ministry, so everything is involved and related. We have checked and found that: there are weeks when we receive 40 meetings, at least 30. Minister Bui Quang Vinh once said: The most difficult thing is to send a deputy minister to meetings, because there are too many meetings” - Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said.

Bộ trưởng Nguyễn Chí Dũng:
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung: "I have thoroughly informed my colleagues in the Ministry, but it is difficult to avoid mistakes."

Admitting that there are tasks and work that are very slow, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said that the Ministry of Planning and Investment is also impatient, the office reviews and urges reports to the minister every week. There are units in the ministry that are very active, but there are also units that have not fulfilled their responsibilities, working in a "holding the ball at their feet" manner.

“I have a habit of standing up and there is nothing left on the table, I promise. If there is too much work, I will take it home and return it tomorrow morning. If we work a little more, try a little harder, the people and businesses will benefit. If we are a little faster, the whole system will run faster. We have thoroughly communicated this spirit to our colleagues in the ministry, but we cannot avoid omissions,” said Minister Nguyen Chi Dung.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Minister and Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung said: The Prime Minister requested the establishment of a working group to inspect, monitor and urge the tasks assigned by the Prime Minister and the Government to ministries, branches and localities. The purpose is to inspect and review to make further reforms and progress.

According to Mr. Mai Tien Dung, the work of the working group is very new, there will be conflicts. The group will urge the Prime Minister to inspect, if any problems are discovered, it will advise the Prime Minister, together with the ministries to propose solutions. "There are things that cannot be done alone, it requires vision... When there are conflicts between ministries, the Government Office will handle them, if they cannot be handled, it will report to the Prime Minister. The goal is all for the common work. If the Commander-in-Chief of the troops is good, the Government will be good" - Minister Mai Tien Dung concluded.

It is known that in August 2016, the working group will work with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance. The results of these two working sessions will be reported at the Government meeting on August 30 and 31.
