Minister Truong Minh Tuan: Building Nghe An Newspaper to new heights

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 10, comrade Truong Minh Tuan - Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications (MIC) visited Nghe An Newspaper. Accompanying him was Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong.

On the side of Nghe An province, there were representatives of the Department of Information and Communications; comrades in the Editorial Board and officers, reporters, editors and staff of Nghe An Newspaper.

Reporting to the working delegation led by the Minister of Information and Communications, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper Pham Thi Hong Toan said that after 56 years of establishment and development, the editorial office currently has a team of 85 officers, reporters, and employees distributed in 9 specialized departments, responsible for publishing 2 printed publications and 1 electronic publication.

"The unit has implemented the "Converged Newsroom" model since the end of 2014 and up to now, in the third year of implementation, it has shown many outstanding features. Especially, it has exploited and thoroughly applied the strengths of information technology and digitalization in the publishing process" - said comrade Pham Thi Hong Toan.

Recently, the Ministry of Information and Communications has agreed to allow Nghe An Newspaper to upgrade its website baonghean.vn into an electronic newspaper. The Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper proposed that the Ministry support and advise Nghe An Newspaper to build a new electronic newspaper publishing content management system (CMS) suitable for development requirements.

Director of the Press Department, Ministry of Information and Communications Luu Dinh Phuc assessed that Nghe An Newspaper has 3 strengths: a long tradition in the revolutionary homeland, intellectual people with strong political will; the newspaper follows its purpose and objectives, serves propaganda work well, closely follows events; the newspaper builds a model of "Converged Newsroom" and has achieved many remarkable results.

After visiting the "Convergence Editorial Office" of Nghe An Newspaper, Minister Truong Minh Tuan talked with staff, reporters and editors. The Minister assessed that with a history of 56 years, Nghe An Newspaper has made great strides. Currently, in the local Party newspaper system, Nghe An Newspaper is one of the major newspapers.

“The greatness here is not only reflected in the age and the large number of copies/issue with more than 16,000 copies, but also in the scope of the newspaper with a solid team of reporters, well-trained. The online newspaper reports very timely, has a large influence, and the way of making newspapers of Nghe An Newspaper is modern,” the Minister emphasized.

Entering 2017, the pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress, Minister Truong Minh Tuan hopes that Nghe An Newspaper will continue to uphold its tradition and fulfill its purpose as a local Party newspaper.

Thereby, reflecting more on the situation of the locality; activities of the local Party Committee; typical examples, new factors in various fields, ways to get rich, ways to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, support policy families...

"But at the same time, local Party newspapers must point out limitations and shortcomings to help local authorities correct policies and contribute to stabilizing the situation," the Minister frankly pointed out.

Minister Truong Minh Tuan requested that Nghe An Newspaper continue to build a team to build the newspaper into a multimedia press agency; help localities convey leadership and direction content on Party newspapers and bring Party newspapers to readers.

Regarding the ethics of journalists, the Minister advised that each journalist must be imbued with revolutionary ethics of journalists. “Recently, the Vietnam Journalists Association has revised and issued new regulations on ethics of Vietnamese journalists, Nghe An Newspaper needs to pay attention and implement them well.”

Regarding the proposal of Nghe An Newspaper, Minister Truong Minh Tuan requested that the leaders of the Press Department work with Vietnamnet Newspaper to support and help Nghe An Newspaper build a better online newspaper.

On behalf of the Ministry of Information and Communications, Minister Truong Minh Tuan wished the cadres, reporters, editors, technicians and employees of Nghe An Newspaper good health in the new year, continued new contributions, many good journalistic works, "sharp pen, pure heart", with heart, vision and talent to develop Nghe An Newspaper to new heights; worthy contributions to the development of the province, and common contributions to the development of the country.

Thanking Minister Truong Minh Tuan for his attention and encouragement, Editor-in-Chief of Nghe An Newspaper Pham Thi Hong Toan said that the unit will continue to strive to develop to new heights, spread more widely; worthy of being a Party newspaper in President Ho Chi Minh's homeland, a unit with the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period.
