In the first part of his brief speech, Stets promised to be “frank, open” and “minimally diplomatic.” The official then asked questions from MEP Rebecca Harms and US Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch.
"You say Crimea - that's Ukraine and Russia - the aggressor" - Stets said and began to have difficulty breathing."Look at Akhtem Chiygoz. He was imprisoned for that. You will be next…",- the Minister concluded and left the forum.
He then collapsed, unable to reach the wings. The host apologized for the awkward situation. "Please forgive me. The minister is sick. For us, it is normal. Please understand…" - she said.
In September 2017, the court sentenced the deputy director of the organization "Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people" * Akhtem Chiygoz to eight years in prison for organizing a riot in front of the Crimean parliament building in February 2014 before the referendum, which led to Crimea's annexation to Russia. Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the request of the Muslim Mufti of Crimea (religionsenior officer inIslam)pardoned Chiygoz.
