Ministry of Culture requests investigation into Kong director's beating in Saigon
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to direct relevant agencies to investigate, clarify and handle the incident in which director KongJordan Vogt-Roberts, Vietnam's tourism ambassador, was assaulted.

The document stated that, in order to further promote the image of the country and Vietnamese tourism through cinema, in April 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism appointed Mr. Jordan Vogt-Roberts - Director of King Kong as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the period 2017-2020.

Earlier, director Jordan Vogt-Roberts was assaulted at a bar. Jordan Vogt-Roberts was punched in the face and had a bottle smashed on him. The group also beat up several people at the bar before leaving. The director was hospitalized on the evening of September 8 and is currently under observation.
