Ministry of Health: Suspend circulation and recall 42 types of drugs

The Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) has decided to withdraw the registration number, suspend the circulation nationwide and recall 42 types of stomach medicines containing the active ingredient domperidone and proton pump inhibitors, and anti-edema medicines containing the active ingredient combination trypsin and bromelain.

Stomach medicines containing the active ingredient domperidone and proton pump inhibitors are often used in the treatment of symptoms of nausea and vomiting caused by infections, drugs, chemotherapy/radiation therapy, treatment and prevention of recurrence of duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers and esophagitis due to gastroesophageal reflux.

Anti-edema drugs containing the active ingredient trypsin and bromelain are often used in cases of edema and swelling due to trauma or surgery, and are used in combination to treat upper respiratory tract diseases such as pharyngitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, etc.

These two drugs are currently sold in our country with many rich brand names.

However, recently, based on information and recommendations from drug administration agencies in several countries around the world, as well as the conclusion of the Drug Registration Advisory Council - Ministry of Health, the Drug Administration has decided to withdraw the registration number, suspend circulation nationwide and recall all 42 types of stomach medicines containing the active ingredient domperidone and proton pump inhibitors, anti-edema medicines containing the active ingredient trypsin and bromelain.

Specifically: Domestically produced drugs containing the combined active ingredient domperidone and proton pump inhibitors include the following products: Stomedon, trizodom, molingas, prazodom, bipando, defaton, lomerate, ausmezol-D, othevinco, domeloc, domprezil.

Imported drugs containing the combined active ingredient domperidone and proton pump inhibitors include the following products: Dompan forte, dompan, digazo, panido-D, omicap-D, L-Cid-D, G-Pandom, limzer, digazo, ulceburg D.

Domestically produced drugs containing the combined active ingredient bromelain and trypsin include the products: Protase tab, brosafe, pedonase, kimose.

Imported drugs containing the combined active ingredient bromelain and trypsin include the following products: Strikase, gimof, trimelan tab, belarosin, orzynase tablet, probilase tablet, berovase tablet, kotase tab, daeshinprotase, paticur, brotilase, kimoral S, bonxicam, phartino.

The Drug Administration of Vietnam requires registered companies to coordinate with manufacturers, importers, and drug distributors to recall and destroy all 42 types of drugs in accordance with the provisions of the 2016 Pharmacy Law.

When buying medicine, people need to pay attention to avoid mistakenly buying the above-mentioned suspended and recalled medicines.
