Ministry of Health requests clarification on the death of mother and child

(Baonghean.vn) - The official dispatch of the Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health, Ministry of Health requested Nghe An Department of Health to urgently report in detail the death of pregnant woman Vo Thi Van and her fetus at Dien Chau General Hospital.

As previously reported, at around 11:30 a.m. on March 8, Ms. Vo Thi Van (born in 1985, residing in Hamlet 4, Dien Xuan, Dien Chau) was taken by her family to Dien Chau District General Hospital to give birth.

Doctor Tran Khac Tien, Director of Dien Chau General Hospital, said that he will inspect and strictly handle any errors made by the team of doctors and nurses.

At 8:40 p.m. the same day, the woman had pain and felt tired. Doctors examined her and found no uterine contractions, then discovered that her uterus had ruptured.

Immediately afterwards, the mother was taken to the operating table to remove the fetus. By 9:47 p.m. the same day, the mother had died, and the fetus (a baby girl) had also died before that.

On March 9, after receiving the information, Director of the Department of Maternal and Child Health Luu Thi Hong signed Official Dispatch No. 1497/BYT-BM-TE to Nghe An Department of Health requesting a clear report of the incident.

The Department Director directed the Nghe An Department of Health to soon convene a professional council meeting to evaluate the reception, monitoring, care and treatment process of Dien Chau General Hospital for pregnant woman Vo Thi Van, and report to the Ministry before 12:00 noon on March 11.
