Dismantling a gambling ring worth over 350 billion VND
On June 22, Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police, said that the provincial police's professional units had just coordinated to successfully dismantle a large-scale online football betting gambling ring with a transaction amount of more than 350 billion VND.
Previously, through the work of grasping the situation of criminal activities in cyberspace, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention of Quang Nam Police discovered a group of subjects in Quang Nam province and Da Nang city participating in the network.gambling organization,Gambling in the form of football betting over the Internet on a large scale, with many participants and very sophisticated methods and tricks of operation.

To destroy this large-scale gambling ring, the Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police Department has directed the establishment of a special project to fight. Under the direct direction of the Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police Department, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department has synchronously deployed professional measures, and coordinated with the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police and professional units of the Provincial Police, the Ministry of Public Security, and Da Nang City Police to focus on the fight.
By synchronously applying professional measures, combining the work of grasping the situation both in cyberspace and in Quang Nam province and neighboring localities, the Task Force has identified the two ringleaders of the ring, Nguyen Minh Tri (born in 1990, residing in Hoa Cuong Bac ward, Hai Chau district, Da Nang city) and Huynh Van An (born in 1989, residing in Hoa Quy ward, Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang city).
On June 21, 2025, the Director of Quang Nam Provincial Police directly directed the Special Task Force to assign many working groups to simultaneously deploy, coordinate with the Criminal Police Department, the Cyber Security Department and the High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of Da Nang City Police to summon 34 subjects residing in Quang Nam, Da Nang and neighboring provinces for questioning. At the same time, urgently searched the residences of Nguyen Minh Tri, Huynh Van An and other criminals involved in the ring.


Initial investigation results, the Investigation Agency determined that the subjects of the "Gambling Organization" used the website https://agbong88.com to organize gambling and let "gamblers" gamble through the website https://bong88.com. Notably, the subjects in the network used anonymous messaging software on cyberspace to communicate, exchange, and negotiate transactions during the gambling process, causing difficulties for the police force in the investigation and handling process.
Through the extraction of electronic data collected from phones, computers, and bank accounts of related subjects, it was determined that from April 2025 to present, this gambling organization line has organized more than 100,000 gambling sessions for "gamblers" in Quang Nam province, Da Nang city and neighboring localities to participate with a total transaction amount of more than 350 billion VND. The police force seized evidence including 35 mobile phones, 2 tablets, 1 laptop, 2 cars, 50 million VND in cash, more than 15,000 data pages and many other related evidence and documents.
“The initial success of the Project demonstrates the great efforts of the Quang Nam Provincial Police and Da Nang City Police in strictly implementing the direction of the Ministry of Public Security's leaders in the context of proactively implementing the progress of arranging provincial-level administrative units without leaving any gaps or interruptions in the management of areas and subjects,” emphasized Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police.
The case is currently under further investigation and expansion. Quang Nam Provincial Police request that violators involved in the ring proactively report to the investigating agency to receive leniency under the law.
