Authorities dismantled a large-scale gambling ring worth over 350 billion VND.

Previously, through monitoring the activities of cybercriminals, the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Quang Nam Provincial Police discovered a group of individuals in Quang Nam province and Da Nang city involved in a criminal ring.gambling organization,Large-scale online football betting involves many participants and operates with sophisticated methods and tactics.

To dismantle this large-scale gambling ring, the Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police directed the establishment of a special task force to combat it. Under the direct guidance of the Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police, the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department implemented a comprehensive set of operational measures, coordinating with the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police and other operational units of the Provincial Police, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Da Nang City Police to focus on the fight against the ring.

By applying a coordinated approach using various investigative techniques, combining intelligence gathering both online and within Quang Nam province and neighboring localities, the Special Investigation Team identified two ringleaders: Nguyen Minh Tri (born in 1990, residing in Hoa Cuong Bac ward, Hai Chau district, Da Nang city) and Huynh Van An (born in 1989, residing in Hoa Quy ward, Ngu Hanh Son district, Da Nang city).

On June 21, 2025, the Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police directly instructed the Special Investigation Team to assign multiple task forces to simultaneously launch an operation, coordinating with the Criminal Police Department, the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Da Nang City Police to summon 34 individuals residing in Quang Nam, Da Nang, and neighboring provinces for questioning. Simultaneously, an urgent search was conducted at the residences of two suspects, Nguyen Minh Tri and Huynh Van An, and other related individuals involved in the criminal ring.

Initial investigations by the investigating agency determined that the individuals involved in the "Gambling Organization" used the website https://agbong88.com to organize gambling and allow gamblers to participate through the site. Notably, the individuals in the ring used anonymous messaging software on the internet to communicate, exchange information, and negotiate transactions during the gambling process, making it difficult for the police to investigate and prosecute.

Through the extraction of electronic data obtained from the phones, computers, and bank accounts of the individuals involved, it was determined that from April 2025 to the present, this gambling ring organized over 100,000 gambling sessions for "gamblers" in Quang Nam province, Da Nang city, and neighboring localities, with a total transaction amount exceeding 350 billion VND. The police seized evidence including 35 mobile phones, 2 tablets, 1 laptop, 2 cars, 50 million VND in cash, over 15,000 pages of data, and many other related items and documents.

"The initial success of the special operation demonstrates the tremendous efforts of the Quang Nam Provincial Police and the Da Nang City Police in strictly implementing the directives of the Ministry of Public Security's leadership, while proactively carrying out the process of reorganizing provincial-level administrative units without leaving any gaps or interruptions in the management of the area and targets," emphasized Major General Nguyen Huu Hop, Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police.

The case is currently under further investigation. The Quang Nam Provincial Police are urging all individuals involved in the ring to proactively report to the investigating authorities in order to receive leniency under the law.
