Previously, the Department of Obstetrics - Tan Ky District Medical Center received patient Nguyen Thi Lien, 57 years old, residing in Block 2, Lat Town, Tan Ky District, hospitalized with abdominal pain, a large abdomen equivalent to a 5-month pregnancy, severe lower abdominal pain, and vaginal bleeding.

The patient was quickly given the necessary procedures to be admitted to the hospital. Test results, ultrasound and X-rays showed that patient Lien had a large uterine fibroid, the tumor was 130 x 133 mm in size, and was bleeding. After consultation, the doctors recommended surgery to remove the uterine fibroid.

Realizing that this was a complicated surgery with the potential for many complications, Dr. Thai Hai Dang - Director of the Medical Center directly directed the surgical team. Because the patient was severely anemic, more than 4 units of blood had to be transfused to be able to perform surgery to remove the tumor.
