FA Cup 3rd round draw: Premier League giants have it easy, except Liverpool

The draw has put Liverpool up against Everton in the third round of the FA Cup. Meanwhile, the other giants in the Premier League have mostly had to face lower-ranked teams.

Accordingly, Man United will host Derby County - a team playing in the English First Division (Championship) - at their home ground Old Trafford. The "neighbor" of the Red Devils, Man City, on the other hand, will have to face a team with an extremely annoying playing style, Burnley, at Etihad.

Chelsea and defending champions Arsenal have an easy time as their opponents are Norwich City and Nottingham Forest (both of whom are playing in the Championship). Tottenham are luckier as they only have to host Wimbledon - a team playing in the English third division.

The unluckiest is certainly Liverpool, because coach Juergen Klopp's team has to play the Merseyside derby with Everton. In the last 3 clashes between the two teams in the FA Cup, Liverpool won 1, drew 1 and lost 1. That shows that The Toffees have never been an easy opponent for The Kop.

There is still one team in the 7th division in the 2017/18 FA Cup, Hereford. However, this club will have a rematch with Fleetwood on December 12. If they win, Hereford will confidently advance to the 3rd round to meet Leicester City.

The FA Cup third round matches will take place on January 6 and 7, 2018.
