Training on knowledge about Vietnam - Laos border for village elders and chiefs

(Baonghean.vn) – On the morning of November 27, in Vinh city, the Central Propaganda Department coordinated with Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to organize a training conference to improve knowledge on Vietnam - Laos border work in 2017 for cadres, village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in 6 border districts.

At the conference, delegates listened to and discussed issues on the results and significance of Vietnam - Laos border work; advantages, difficulties and directions in the implementation of legal documents related to border management and protection; propaganda work and key tasks in managing and protecting the Vietnam - Laos border; the situation of trade exchange across the Vietnam - Laos border in 2017, orientations for socio-economic development associated with strengthening national defense and security in the border area in the coming time; propaganda work, mobilizing the masses to protect security and order and key tasks in managing and protecting the Vietnam - Laos border.

The conference provided updated and specific information on the border situation, disseminated the meaning and importance of building, managing and protecting a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and mutually developing border; and the results and significance of completing the work of increasing and embellishing the Vietnam-Laos border marker system.

As well as providing legal documents related to the border, including 2 documents: "Protocol on border lines and border markers between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic" and "Agreement on border management regulations and land border gates between the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Lao People's Democratic Republic"; the issue of economic and trade development associated with strengthening national defense and security along the Vietnam - Laos border in the coming time.

This is the basis for clear and accurate identification both in the field and in legal documents, helping functional forces and people on both sides of the border easily identify the border line, the system of national border markers and handle issues arising in border management; contributing to building a peaceful, stable, friendly, cooperative and sustainably developed Vietnam - Laos border.

The organizers hope that the training contents will be conveyed and widely disseminated by cadres, village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious people in the 6 border districts to the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, to have a deeper understanding of the spirit of solidarity and long-standing traditional friendship between the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos, so that they can take responsibility for preserving and nurturing that special relationship to develop more sustainably.
