(Baonghean) - On April 14, 2014, the Boko Haram group kidnapped 276 female students from Chibok High School, shocking and infuriating the world. On the occasion of the first anniversary of this event, Amnesty International (AI) has just published a report on the crimes committed by this terrorist group against the Nigerian people.

According to the statistical report, at least 2,000 women and children in Nigeria were kidnapped by the notorious terrorist group in 2014 with more than 38 mass kidnappings carried out. According to AI, the figures in the report were based on evidence collected from 200 witnesses, including 28 women and children who escaped from the hands of Boko Hamram.

Witnesses said the victims of kidnapping were thrown into cramped prisons. For women and girls, the terrorists forced them to marry, cook, clean or be sexually abused. For men and boys, they brainwashed or executed those who refused to comply.

Boko Haram not only brainwashes men, but also indoctrinates girls with radical Islam. They force their victims, including children, to learn how to use weapons and make bombs, and then return to attack the villages where their victims used to live.

As for the fate of the 276 Chibok schoolgirls, a military source said they were split into three or four groups and taken to different camps controlled by Boko Haram. Some were found in areas such as the Sambisa Forest in Borno State, around Lake Chad, the mountain ranges that separate Nigeria and Cameroon, and even in neighboring Chad. Although the military has located them, it said it would be too risky to rescue them.

In addition to the 2,000 abducted children and women, Boko Haram also killed more than 4,000 people in 2014. This number is sure to increase, as the number of people killed at the hands of Boko Haram in the first quarters of 2015 exceeded 1,500. Based on the above evidence, Amnesty International says that the terrorist group Boko Haram must be prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
