'Blockbuster' signing Mbappe makes a perfect debut, Real Madrid wins the European Super Cup.

New signing Kylian Mbappe was included in Real Madrid's starting lineup by coach Ancelotti, and in his debut match, he played alongside Vinicius and Rodrygo in attack, while Bellingham, Valverde, and Tchouameni formed the midfield trio.

Atalanta have lost quite a few key players for various reasons, so coach Gasperini has opted to rely on the individual brilliance of the Ademola Lookman - Charles De Ketelaere attacking duo while using a 3-4-1-2 formation with a large number of defenders.

Despite being considered the underdog, Atalanta played with unwavering determination and even hit the crossbar of a deflected shot from De Roon against Real Madrid. On Real Madrid's side, opportunities went unconquered, with Vinicius missing a tap-in from Carvajal in the 17th minute before Rodrygo's shot hit the crossbar in the 45+1 minute.

At the start of the second half, Pasalic nearly opened the scoring for Atalanta, but Courtois made a spectacular diving save to deny the header. When the next clear chance arose, Real Madrid scored. Vinicius broke down the left wing and delivered a low cross for Valverde to easily tap into an empty net.

The goal made things much easier for Real, who missed a few more chances but still managed a second goal thanks to new signing Mbappe after a pass from Bellingham. Towards the end of the match, both teams had chances to score but no further goals were scored.

Winning 2-0, Real Madrid claimed their sixth European Super Cup and set a new record for the most titles won. Their performance in Warsaw will help Real remain a title contender in all competitions they will participate in during the 2024/2025 season.
