Vietnam men's volleyball team finalizes list, aiming for SEA Games gold medal

(Baonghean.vn) - The coaching staff of the men's volleyball team has just sent the final list to the General Department of Sports and Physical Training before the whole team flies to Malaysia next week.

The list of 12 players selected to go to the SEA Games this time are basically the best faces that Vietnamese men's volleyball currently possesses. From new recruits like Le Thanh Hac, Nguyen Truong Giang or long-time pillars of the team like: Tu Thanh Thuan, Giang Van Duc, Ngo Van Kieu... all contributed greatly to the achievement of 7th place at the Asian Club Championship and 10th place at the previous Asian Men's Championship.

Attending this SEA Games, there are 3 athletes who registered for the first time: Libero Huynh Trung Truc, main attacker Le Thanh Hac and Nguyen Truong Giang. Two faces had to say goodbye to the men's volleyball team: main attacker Nguyen Van Du and middle attacker Le Hoai Han.

After finishing the 2017 Asian Men's Championship with their first appearance in the top 10, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team returned to Nhon Sports Center to continue training and perfect the squad in preparation for the 29th SEA Games in Malaysia.

According to information from the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, at the upcoming 29th SEA Games, the goal of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team will be to at least successfully defend the silver medal we won 2 years ago in Singapore.

However, the challenge for coach Phung Cong Hung and his team is not small when, in addition to Thailand, Indonesia is also making a strong comeback after reaching the top 4 in the recent Asian Championship. According to the competition schedule at SEA Games 29, volleyball for men and women will start from August 21 and end on August 28.
