(Baonghean.vn) - After the incident at the recent music festival, the police seized "laughing gas" and some tablets suspected of being synthetic drugs at the scene. The increasing number of dangerous toys for young people poses a management problem for authorities.

Laughing gas

Recently, from bars to sidewalk cafes, it is not difficult to see young people inhaling laughing gas… They use it carelessly because they think it is just a pastime, not harmful like other addictive drugs. However, reality has proven that laughing gas is very dangerous, it can even kill people.

Laughing gas is essentially a balloon filled with nitrous oxide (N2O). When inhaled, nitrous oxide makes people excited and creates the illusion of laughter.

Many young people are excited about laughing gas without knowing that this is a game that can be deadly dangerous.

Just put your mouth on the end of the balloon, inhale the air inside, then blow it back out to make the balloon bigger. Repeat this about 4-5 times and anyone, whether happy or sad, will laugh "uncontrollably".

It seems normal, but playing and inhaling laughing gas contains many dangers. Inhaling laughing gas directly affects the cardiovascular system and nervous system, and the worst consequence if abused is depression or death.

Scientists around the world have warned that laughing gas can cause death if used in a confined space or using a plastic bag. The danger is that long-term abuse of hallucinogens can easily lead to the use of real addictive drugs, even drugs.

According to the authorities, N2O - pumped into "laughing balloons" - is not yet classified as a precursor or a narcotic-like substance, so there are no regulations on how to handle it. However, the market management agency and local authorities can apply the handling method for trading goods of unknown origin, not being allowed to trade N2O gas but still trading and handling fire safety due to trading dangerous gas cylinders without taking preventive measures and providing fire safety equipment according to regulations.

In reality, the "danger" of the "laughing gas" hobby has created another obsession: fire and explosion incidents can happen at any time at these business locations.

Pop Candy

This is a type of candy that is quite popular among elementary and middle school students. According to the description, if you shake it and put it in the dark, it will glow, a shimmering, magical light, but if you throw it into a basin of water, it will explode. The fun for children is that they have to be really skillful to make the candy explode, so they compete to buy candy, eat candy to explode to affirm their higher level than others.

Many types of popping candies with eye-catching packaging are advertised widely online and appear everywhere in front of school gates.

Not only this type of candy but also many similar types of candy are sold everywhere in front of the school gate such as ghost candy, colored balls soaked in water... all of which appeal to the curiosity of students. The common characteristics of these types of candy are that they are all very cheap, have bright, eye-catching packaging and colors, and absolutely do not have an expiration date or information about their origin. Most of the packaging is printed in Chinese, and there are no labels translated into Vietnamese.

According to experts, most of these candies use toxic dyes, do not ensure food hygiene and safety, and can even be harmful to human health and life, especially children.

Therefore, the authorities, especially the market management agencies, need to actively intervene and strictly handle the acts of selling goods of unknown origin; parents also need to pay attention to their children, not letting them use unhealthy candies and stimulants, to prevent unfortunate consequences from happening.
