Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway reduces 25% of tolls for vehicles with less than 9 seats traveling on Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway from 45,000 VND to 35,000 VND, expected from October 15.

Mr. Pham Van Khoi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Phuong Thanh Transport Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (investor of the BOT route), said that the investor and the Vietnam Road Administration agreed to reduce the toll by 25% compared to the current rate, applicable to all vehicles traveling on the Phap Van - Cau Gie route. Vehicles with less than 9 seats traveling the entire 28 km route will be reduced from VND45,000/trip to VND35,000/trip.

The fee reduction on the Phap Van - Cau Gie route is in line with the Government's policy, ensuring harmony between the interests of businesses and traffic participants. The fee reduction is expected to start from October 15.

The General Department of Roads has requested the Ministry of Transport and specialized agencies to adjust the financial plan and investment project contract to upgrade the Phap Van - Cau Gie route accordingly.

Previously, the toll collection period for this route was expected to be 11 to 12 years, however, with increased traffic volume and reduced toll rates, the toll collection period is expected to last about 17 years. In 2021, the toll will increase again by 18%, and the following roadmap will see toll increases every 3 years.

Previously, the Government Inspectorate pointed out that the Phap Van - Cau Gie road upgrade project phase 1 only repairs and renovates, but the toll fee is equivalent to the newly built Cau Gie - Ninh Binh highway (1,500 VND/km).

The approval and implementation of the project did not fully anticipate the shortcomings of the toll collection system, leading to unreasonable connections with the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway, causing inconvenience to road users and serious congestion. To date, the project has been forced to replace it with an automatic toll collection method and remove the Dai Xuyen station.
