(Baonghean.vn) - The wine bottle soaked with forest plants for about a week, considered a strong and precious wine, so Mr. Moong Van Di and his wife only invited his wife's sister and younger brother to drink. Unexpectedly, that was also the fateful drinking party for the whole family.

At noon on March 14, at the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department of Nghe An General Hospital, with his physical condition not yet fully recovered and his spirit exhausted, Lu Van Kham, the lucky survivor of the alcohol poisoning that killed 4 people in a family in Huu Lap commune (Ky Son), recounted the fateful drinking session that took place on the afternoon of March 12.

Lu Van Kham (born in 1994) is the brother-in-law of Moong Van Di - the person who organized a medicinal wine party at his house and invited Kham to drink.

"At 2am, I came back from fixing the faucet and hadn't had time to wash my hands and feet when my uncle said: Brother-in-law, come to my house to drink my medicinal wine (in Nghe An, people call the wife's brother or younger brother "uncle") which has been soaked for 7 or 8 days. I don't invite other people, I only invite my brother-in-law and younger brother to drink" - Mr. Kham said sadly.

He also said that there were 4 people on the wine tray, including Moong Van Di and his wife Lo Thi Van (both born in 1978), Moong Van Tue (also known as Muoi, born in 1984) and the youngest was Kham (born in 1994).

Mr. Lu Van Kham recounts the fateful drinking party.
According to Lu Van Kham, the bait for drinking wine is very simple, just a few guavas and a plate of bitter bamboo shoots dipped in salt. Mr. Di told Kham: "Drinking this wine will help with back pain and fatigue". Kham tiredly said: "I don't usually drink wine. I heard about medicinal wine so I tried it, after drinking exactly 2 cups I felt strange so I didn't drink anymore". After drinking 2 cups of wine, feeling dizzy, having a headache, and nauseous, Mr. Kham ran outside and put his hand in his throat to vomit. Kham even drank a big glass of water with the intention of vomiting. This probably helped him survive. When he discovered that the wine was not normal, Kham told him this.

However, at that moment, Mr. Di did not believe it either. He said: "Don't lie to me, I'm sitting here, calm. If the alcohol had drugs, I would be affected too" - Mr. Kham recounted. And right after that sentence, Mr. Di also collapsed on the alcohol mat.

Just a few minutes later, when all four people collapsed, the scene became chaotic. Mr. Di's family panicked and called for help, but it was too late. Ms. Lo Thi Van died right on the bed; Mr. Di and Mr. Tue died on the way to the emergency room, and Mr. Kham was taken to Ky Son District General Hospital, then transferred directly to Nghe An Provincial General Hospital, where he was saved by the doctors and nurses there.

The wine bottle and a number of forest plants soaked in wine were sealed and seized by Ky Son District Police to serve the investigation.

The alcohol poisoning incident shook the Khmu village here. Everyone was surprised by the sudden deaths of three brothers in one family because in daily life, the Khmu people often drink alcohol and still have the habit of soaking alcohol with leaves and forest plants to drink, they call it healthy wine.
