(Baonghean.vn) - In the 2016-2017 school year, all primary schools in the mountainous region of Nghe An stopped organizing boarding meals. However, for students of Yen Na 1 Primary School - Tuong Duong, thanks to the boarding model, the children can still go to school with peace of mind...

Yen Na 1 Primary School used to have 6 campuses and was one of the disadvantaged campuses in remote areas of Tuong Duong district. Since 2012, with the support of businesses, the school has been rebuilt and merged into 3 campuses. The main campus in Pu Kem village is the most spacious campus with 6 classrooms. |
In previous years, students at the school were supported by the New School project, so they were able to cook meals for their boarding students. However, this year, because the project ended, parents in the school have to cook meals for their children to bring to school every day. |
To ensure hygiene, before starting the meal, children are instructed to wash their hands thoroughly. |
The school's meals are held in a temporary house made of bamboo and leaves. However, thanks to this place, students avoid the "3 in 1" situation in the same classroom (studying together, living together, eating together). |
The school has 125 students. All of them are Khmu students. 120/125 students are from poor households. Due to difficult conditions, their meals are prepared very simply by their families, mainly consisting of rice, sticky rice, a little bamboo shoots and most of all, instant noodles prepared early in the morning as a side dish with rice. |
The "richer" ones have some more salted sea fish. |
Due to the customs of the highlanders, the boys and girls of the school only eat rice with their hands. |
The atmosphere of the lunch was lively. |
Many students were surprised to see a friend bringing a spoon to class. |
Lu Van Suu, a student in class 2C, is a special boy because he was born with a disability. But he still goes to school diligently every day despite his family's difficult circumstances. Many meals, his menu only consists of white rice. |
To organize meals for boarding students, teachers in the school volunteered to stay at school, share a simple meal with the students, and cook instant noodles for them instead of their parents. |
Thanks to these meals, parents feel more secure when their children go to school, helping to maintain class size and creating diligence among students. |
After lunch, the children will be arranged to sleep at school. All blankets, mosquito nets, and pillows are also mobilized by the school with the support of charitable organizations. |

The boarding model at Yen Na 1 Primary School is also a bright spot in mountainous districts today, especially at a time when more than 100 primary schools in Nghe An have had their lunch support programs for students cut since the 2016-2017 school year. |
