The statue of Nguyen Du made of rosewood is recognized as a Vietnamese record.

(Baonghean.vn) -The statue of the great poet Nguyen Du was carved from rosewood and was completed by artisans over many months. The owner of this special statue is Mr. Nguyen Le Huy (Vinh City), the 8th generation son-in-law of the Nguyen family - Tien Dien.

The statue was cast from a thousand-year-old block of rosewood, weighing over 4.7 tons. After completion, the statue weighed nearly 4 tons, was 3.1 meters high and nearly 2 meters wide at the base.

Mr. Huy is currently working at TH Milk Joint Stock Company. In April 2014, after purchasing the hunchbacked incense tree, the first thing Mr. Huy thought of was to make a statue of Nguyen Du from the hunchbacked incense tree. This is also Mr. Huy's way of expressing his gratitude and admiration for the great poet of the nation and world cultural celebrity.

On November 10, this work was reviewed and recognized by the Vietnam Record Organization as "The largest statue of the great poet Nguyen Du made of rosewood in Vietnam". It is expected that a reception ceremony will be held on December 5. The statue was completed after nearly half a year with the talented hands of artisans from Bac Giang province. The statue weighs nearly 4 tons, is 3.1 m high and has a base width of nearly 2 m.

Towards the 250th anniversary of Nguyen Du's birth, Mr. Nguyen Le Huy donated the statue to the Great Poet Nguyen Du Memorial Area.

Because it was made in Vinh City, on the morning of November 22, Mr. Nguyen Le Huy transported the statue to Nguyen Du Memorial Area (Nghi Xuan - Ha Tinh).
