"I think it will be very difficult because to be called up to the team I have to play a lot, received the trust, observation and evaluation of the coaching staff and many other factors. However, I don't think much. That's life, the more effort you put in, the more results you will enjoy," Bui Tien Dung shared when asked about the possibility of being called up by coach Park Hang-seo to the Vietnam national team to prepare for the King's Cup 2019.
The competition for a place in the national team in the goalkeeper position is becoming increasingly fierce as Vietnamese football has many excellent goalkeepers. However, Tien Dung is not too worried and thinks that this is a good thing. "This is good news, there are more and more talented people. Obviously, it creates a good competitive environment. I have to try harder to improve myself," the goalkeeper from Thanh Hoa added.
Tien Dung said that competing for a position in the national team is not a problem for him at the moment. "What I need is playing and time. I need to be on the field more to perfect my ball feeling. I think I just need to focus on my expertise, paying attention to other things won't solve anything."
According to Bui Tien Dung, he is not even sure if he will be called up to the U22 Vietnam team. "I am not sure if I will be called up to the national team this time and the same goes for the U22 team. Even if I join the U22 team, I am not sure if I will be a main player. Anyway, I just have to try my best."
When asked about the faces capable of competing for the goalkeeper position in the Vietnam national team, Bui Tien Dung commented: "I think Dang Van Lam is now number one. The next people will be evaluated by the coaching staff. The coaching staff always closely follows the matches to find the best people."
