Fireworks smuggling is complicated
(Baonghean.vn) - In the last months of the year, the police force seized 1.8 tons of various types of fireworks, an increase of 2.5 times compared to 2016. Many cases of fireworks trading and transportation were seized and handled by the police.

Typically, on November 24, the Economic and Drug Crime Investigation Police Team of Dien Chau District Police arrested Cao Thanh Binh (born in 1977, residing in Hamlet 2, Dien Hoa Commune, Dien Chau) while transporting 10 boxes of 36 foreign-origin fireworks to sell to an unknown person, when he was discovered and caught red-handed by the Dien Chau District Police working group.

Previously, on the night of October 11, 2017, while patrolling Dung Quyet Street in Trung Do Ward, Vinh City, the Task Force of the Mobile Police Company of Nghe An Province discovered two subjects residing in Ha Tinh transporting 26kg of fireworks. The subjects stated that they had purchased the above fireworks in Huong Son, Ha Tinh, and when they arrived in Vinh City, they had not yet delivered them to the buyer when they were discovered and arrested by the Mobile Police force on patrol.
Colonel Nguyen Huu Cau - Director of the Provincial Police Department said: Currently, the law only includes firecrackers in the list of prohibited goods for trading, and is considered for criminal prosecution, while those who produce, trade, and transport fireworks are not considered for criminal prosecution. Meanwhile, the profits from smuggling fireworks are huge, no less than drug trafficking. Therefore, this regulation makes it easy for fireworks smuggling to flare up again, especially at the end of the year.
It is known that the Provincial Police are currently planning to launch a campaign to fight crime, including handling violations in the trading and transportation of fireworks, to avoid the outbreak of trading and using fireworks, affecting social order and fire safety during the Lunar New Year.
On December 24, at Cua Lo port area, the PCMT&TP force coordinated with the Border Guard Station of Cua Lo - Ben Thuy port (Nghe An Border Guard) to arrest Nguyen Van Cong (born in 1986, residing in block 4, Nghi Tan ward, Cua Lo town) who was illegally transporting 3.7 kg of firecrackers.
