Postal package sent to director explodes, accountant injured

The package was addressed to Mr. Son, Director of Tam Da Trading and Service Company Limited. When the company's female accountant opened it to check, the package suddenly exploded, seriously injuring the employee.

The incident occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on March 31, at the headquarters of Tam Da Trading and Service Company Limited, at 233 Dang Hai Ward, Hai An District, Hai Phong.

The above mentioned postal package was signed by the People's Committee and Fatherland Front of Hai An district and sent to Mr. Pham Van Son, Director of Tam Da Trading and Service Company Limited. The postal package also clearly stated Mr. Son's current phone number.

Tam Da company headquarters, where the postal package turned into an explosive bomb

According to initial information from the family and the police, at the above time, a woman around 30 years old rode a motorbike to the company and brought a package to the Director. Mr. Pham Van Xuan, Mr. Son's father, received the package and paid the woman over 40,000 VND in postage. Mr. Xuan then handed the package to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, an accountant, to take to the office on the 2nd floor. Here, Ms. Hong opened the package and it suddenly exploded.

The explosion left Ms. Hong with dozens of lead bullets in her face, chest, and arms. A male employee nearby also suffered minor injuries from the explosion.

Mr. Pham Van Huong, Chairman of Hai An District People's Committee confirmed that the postal item bearing the name of the Fatherland Front unit of Hai An District was a fake one because all the units of the district sending postal items must undergo strict inspection and approval. Mr. Huong affirmed that Hai An District People's Committee did not send any postal item to Mr. Son, Director of Tam Da Company.

A spokesman for Hai Phong city police said the police are actively investigating to clarify the case.
