FIFA rankings for May 2013: Vietnam continues to lead Southeast Asia.
Spain remains firmly at the top of the FIFA rankings in May 2013, 110 points ahead of their closest rival, Germany. This marks the 20th consecutive month that Spain has dominated the FIFA rankings. Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, Vietnam continues to hold the number one position.

The Vietnamese national team remains number one in Southeast Asia.
Over the past four weeks, only seven matches have been played between national teams worldwide. The majority of these matches took place between teams from smaller footballing nations. Therefore, their pursuers have had no chance of challenging Spain's lead. Spain continues to reign supreme with 1,538 points, far ahead of teams like Germany (1,428), Argentina (1,296), and Croatia (1,191).
The most notable changes were in the Top 20, with Switzerland (14th, up 1) and Belgium (15th, +1) both moving up, pushing Mexico down to 16th place, two places lower than last month. For Belgium, this is their highest ranking in history since the FIFA rankings were established in 1993. The biggest climber this month was Grenada, after two wins against St. Vincent (1-0) and St. Lucia (2-1), accumulating 60 points, climbing 20 places to 121st.
In Southeast Asia, the Vietnamese national team maintained its number one position without losing points or dropping in the rankings. Among the 11 teams in the region, Malaysia was the only one to move up (+2), while Cambodia replaced East Timor at the bottom of the region.
This coming June, the FIFA rankings will undoubtedly see many changes as the teams that qualified for the 2013 Confederations Cup (held in Brazil) begin their preparations, and the 2014 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region resume.
