C. Ronaldo and Messi make fans 'cool' when the two stars 'cross orbits' at the event
Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi were close and talked to each other frequently at the UEFA awards ceremony on the night of August 29.
On the evening of August 29, both C. Ronaldo and Messi were present at the UEFA awards ceremony in Monaco. The two players were in the top three candidates for the European Player of the Year award last season, but both probably knew it would be difficult to compete with Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool, the reigning Champions League champions.

However, throughout the ceremony, C. Ronaldo and Messi talked intimately, unlike other award ceremonies over the past 10 years. CR7 was the one who took the initiative to shake Messi's hand when they met in the first row reserved for excellent players. In the middle of the award introductions, the Barca star also turned to whisper to the former Real Madrid striker.
When the host asked if they missed each other when C. Ronaldo had not played in Spain for a year, C. Ronaldo excitedly shared, even intending to invite Messi to dinner. "Messi and I have shared this stage for the past 15 years. I don't know if in the history of football there have been two people who have done the same thing. It's not easy. We have a pretty good relationship. Although we have never had dinner together, I hope in the future I can invite him," C. Ronaldo said while Messi smiled.

The Portuguese striker also corrected some newspapers that misquoted him saying he wanted to retire next year. C. Ronaldo affirmed that he will play for many more years. "In two or three years I will still be here. Those who hate me, they will still see me here," the 34-year-old striker affirmed.
C. Ronaldo did not receive any awards on the night of August 29. Van Dijk received the Best Player and Best Defender in Europe awards. While Messi received the Best Forward award.
