Dead fish washed ashore

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of June 1, at the beach of Quynh Long commune, Quynh Luu district (Nghe An), a phenomenon of mass fish deaths occurred and drifted ashore.

According to many locals, in recent days, along the beaches of Quynh Long commune, especially Hang beach, Hoa beach, Phu Lien village beach... hundreds of kilograms of dead fish have been drifting ashore every day.

After each wave recedes, a series of dead fish appear on the sandy shore.

Seeing the scene, many people ran to the beach early in the morning to pick up fish to bring home. Each person can pick up about 2-3 kg of fish a day.

According to some experienced fishermen, there has never been such a mass fish death before. Perhaps, one of the reasons leading to the mass fish death is suspected to be due to the phenomenon of catching fish by electric shock from double trawlers.

According to Decree 33/2010, trawlers with a capacity of 90 CV must operate offshore, but many trawlers do not comply with this regulation.
