(Baonghean.vn) - Issuing specific programs and action plans with responsibilities assigned to all levels and sectors to complete the criteria for a new rural district by 2025 is one of the goals set forth in the Resolution of the 29th Congress of the Nghia Dan District Party Committee, term 2020-2025, and is being vigorously implemented under the direction of the District Party Committee Standing Committee.

The highlight of a perfect garden.

The garden of Mr. Le Trong Mung's family in Lung Thuong hamlet is one of five gardens recognized as meeting the criteria of a "model new rural garden" in Nghia Loi commune (Nghia Dan district). It covers an area of over 3,200 square meters.2, minus more than 472m2When building houses, yards, and roads, Mr. Mung planned the layout according to different livestock and production zones, focusing on economically valuable plants and animals. This included: livestock breeding areas; fruit and vegetable growing areas; and a medicinal herb garden.

All areas adhere to the criteria for building model gardens in the new rural areas, such as: having a planning map; applying scientific and technological advancements; ensuring environmental protection and landscape preservation; and increasing income. During the "operation" of the model garden, Mr. Mung's family actively applied biological bedding, increased the proportion of herbs in animal feed, invested in a drip irrigation system for crops, along with many other clean production and farming practices. With this approach, products from his family's garden are ordered by many traders, and his income has increased many times compared to before.

Also in Lung Thuong hamlet, Mr. Le Trong Son's family has a model new rural garden covering over 8,000 square meters.2He has planned the production and livestock farming areas rationally, contributing to increased income. Since the beginning of 2021, he invested in planting 3 sao (approximately 0.3 hectares) of green squash, which is now bearing fruit, with an expected yield of about 4 tons per sao. According to Mr. Son, traders have come to place orders at the farm at a price of 7 million VND per ton. With that success, Mr. Son is planning to plant about 8 sao of green squash in the model garden.

Evaluating the model gardens in the area, Comrade Lo Van Cuong - Secretary of the Party Committee of Nghia Loi commune - affirmed: “The advantage of the commune is that the garden land of households is quite large. Based on that, along with the support of the district in both funding and technology, many households have increased their income from building model gardens according to the new rural development standards. From the 5 successful model gardens, the commune is mobilizing and encouraging other households to build model gardens. This is considered an important highlight on the commune's journey in building a new rural area.”

The "Project to build standard rural gardens in Nghia Dan district" was implemented in 2020. The District Farmers' Association was assigned as the lead unit for implementation. In early 2021, Nghia Dan district assessed and recognized 26 standard gardens (each household receiving 40 million VND in support) in 22 communes. Of these, 21 communes each implemented one garden, while Nghia Loi commune implemented five gardens in Lung Thuong hamlet to implement the "Model Residential Area" model for ethnic minority communities.

As for the family of Mr. Tran Dao Dung, in Son Mong hamlet, Nghia Hieu commune, their model garden was built on an area of over 8,000 square meters.2With a garden, pond, livestock pens, and fruit orchards arranged scientifically, "each season brings its own produce." Under the fruit trees, Mr. Dung also keeps dozens of beehives, providing a "double benefit": a source of honey and contributing to pollination of the fruit trees when the season arrives. Notably, within the well-designed garden, he built a system of yards and pathways that feel like a park. Mr. Dung said, "The family garden is already there, and the district provided 40 million VND to build a standard new rural garden, so I made it beautiful..."

Implementing the Project on building standard gardens for new rural areas, in 2021,Nghia Dan districtThe district will continue to integrate provincial and district funding by increasing the number of orchards from 45 to 50, with a support level of 30 million VND per orchard. The district also aims for all levels of government and relevant sectors to continue effectively implementing planning, working alongside farmers to produce large quantities of high-quality agricultural products, linked to the OCOP program. Simultaneously, attention will be paid to establishing mechanisms and policies to create outlets for farmers' products in the area. Businesses will be encouraged to sign contracts along the entire value chain, from production and input to processing and consumption. Connections will be made with other localities within the province and nationwide to facilitate product distribution.

The climate, soil, and other conditions are basically favorable for growing fruit trees such as oranges, pomelos, tangerines, guavas, and avocados. Through a review, the district has over 1,800 household gardens with an area of 500 square meters or more that can be developed into model gardens for the new rural development program.
