The recent heavy rain, although not causing flooding in Hoa Son commune, caused many roads to collapse, affecting people's traffic.

The hamlet has a concrete road (3m wide) surrounding the hamlet. Next to this road is a large ditch. Due to strong water flow, the road has collapsed. In some sections, the water has dug deep into the road, threatening to damage the road.

In order to deal with landslides and contribute to protecting village roads, officials and people of hamlet 2, Hoa Son commune agreed to contribute bamboo to build road embankments.

According to the plan, the whole hamlet has nearly 90 households, each household contributes at least 1 old bamboo tree, households with bamboo bushes contribute 4-5 trees. Mobilize the whole hamlet to participate in the labor of cutting bamboo to build the road embankment.

Hundreds of bamboo trees have been gathered by people at key road sections. Each tree is cut into many pieces, each piece is about 2 meters long, one end is sharpened and planted at the foot of the road, in sunken areas near the ditch, through village culverts, around...

Many families not only actively participate in the labor but also contribute large bamboo bushes to cut down to prevent landslides, such as the family of Mrs. Pham Van Tuan and Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung. "Protecting the village road is the common responsibility of the whole village, so we are willing to contribute as much bamboo as we have so as not to affect travel" - Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dung shared.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the villagers, after 2 hard working days, the collapsed village roads were all covered with bamboo stakes to support the foundation. However, this is only the first phase of the plan to protect the village roads of the people of Hamlet 2; in the near future, they will pour soil on top of these bamboo stumps to support the road base.

According to Mr. Pham Van Tuan - Head of the Veterans Association of Hamlet 2, "After the flood, the village roads that were sunk and at risk of collapsing were reinforced with layers of bamboo stakes. If there is heavy rain, we can rest assured. Fresh bamboo roots, when driven into soft soil, will take root and grow. Bamboo stakes will turn into living tree trunks, holding the soil and the road. Just like on river banks, bamboo will contribute effectively to preventing erosion."

The whole village contributed bamboo to build the road embankment. This action not only has practical significance in protecting the village road, but also demonstrates and promotes the solidarity of local people in preventing and responding to natural disasters.
