- Not long after breaking up with Duong Hoang Yen, you released a song dedicated to your ex-lover. What do you say about the opinion that you two are "playing tricks" to promote your name?

- If I wanted to make up a story about our breakup, I would have done it a long time ago, not waiting until now. Actually, at first, Yen and I both agreed not to mention the breakup. But when this information was leaked, too many people called to ask about me, my friends and relatives. I didn't want my personal matter to affect everyone, so I decided to make it public.

- Why did you two break up?

- I think it was my fault for making Yen feel too suffocated in love. Before saying goodbye, Yen asked me: "Do you feel like we're wasting too much of each other's time? Do you feel like we each need our own space? I don't want you to have to try to be with me every day." At that time, I was a bit surprised, a bit bewildered because I didn't understand what was happening. I thought everything was going well, why did we have to break up. Honestly, when I'm with her, I always feel comfortable, there's no forced endurance at all. But if Yen wants to spend more time for herself, for other relationships, I'm willing to respect her decision.

There were many other reasons that affected our relationship, for example, the rumor that I had a relationship with another girl spread on social media and then the story of getting married. Actually, I wanted to have a family with Yen. I told her my wish a few years ago, but at that time, Yen wanted to focus on building her career. - How have you two behaved towards each other since you "went your separate ways"?

- Yen and I broke up amicably. I still help her manage her work. However, we also limit our appearances and direct contact with each other. Mostly through assistants. Actually, I still love Yen. I have talked to her many times about our relationship, but Yen always shows a fierce attitude. There were times when I missed her so much that I couldn't bear it, I texted her saying I missed her but only received a few lines like: "Forget it."

During the seven years we were together, we had so many memories. Being with Yen, I felt like I became a better person. I went from being a "bad boy" to a student who always received scholarships at school. Together we overcame difficult times to reach milestones in life and career.

- How has your life changed after the breakup?

- It took me about a week to regain my balance. During that week, I always felt lost and worried. Yen was not good at driving, and often got confused when handling things on the road. Then there were other things related to life and work, I had always been the one to help Yen. I was just afraid that she would have a hard time handling them.

I'm so used to being with Yen all the time.To me, love is the moments we get to do normal everyday things together.Now every morning, I am startled because I don’t know who to take to dinner. When Yen comes home from teaching, I can no longer take her home. At night, I miss Yen the most. That is the time when we come back from a show and take a motorbike together to see the city. - How did your relatives react to this?

- Both sets of parents knew about our breakup through the press. The first person to call me was Yen's mother. She kept asking if there was anything wrong with us. I could only say that Yen and I were in the process of reconsidering our relationship. My parents scolded me. They blamed me: "Maybe it's because you didn't give in and bullied Yen that things turned out like this? Or did you have someone else?". They both loved Yen very much and considered her as their own child. When Yen competed in The Voice, my mother felt so sorry for her that every time she mentioned it, she cried because of pity. Even when she watched the video online, she couldn't hold back her tears because she saw Yen struggling.

- What do you think if Duong Hoang Yen has a new lover?

- I haven't dared to think about it yet. If that happens, I'll have to accept it. Anyway, we're not lovers now, it's not her fault for being with someone else. Even if Yen invites me to her wedding, I'll still come to congratulate her. I'll still wait, until I stop loving her.
