The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports has issued a decision to fine singer Jack for performing a song with lyrics that violate Vietnamese customs and traditions, causing a negative impact on society.

On November 7, 2025, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports issued a decision to impose an administrative penalty on Mr. Trinh Tran Phuong Tuan, also known as singer Jack. According to Decision No. 1491/QD-XPHC, the singer was fined 55 million VND for the act of "Performing artistic acts using language contrary to the traditional customs and morals of the nation, causing negative impacts on public ethics, health, and social psychology." In addition, Jack also received an additional penalty of a 9-month suspension from performing.
Previously, on November 4, 2025, The East Entertainment Services Co., Ltd., the organizer of the event, was also fined 50 million VND. According to Decision No. 1469/QD-XPHC, the company violated the regulation by "Organizing an artistic performance that did not conform to the content stated in the approval document."
The origin stems from the program "Childhood Under the Moonlight".
The incident stemmed from the art program "Moonlit Childhood" held on October 16, 2025, at the Cung Xuan stage in Bach Mai ward, Hanoi. Following the event, many audience members and media outlets complained about singer Jack's performance, claiming that the song's lyrics were inappropriate and caused public outrage.

Upon receiving the complaint, the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports promptly verified the information. On October 20, 2025, the Department requested The East Company to report on the incident. The following day, the Department chaired a meeting with the City Police, the People's Committee of Bach Mai Ward, and the organizing unit to clarify the relevant issues.

Verification results showed that The East Company had included a song not on the approved list in the program. The company representative admitted the violation, accepted responsibility, and committed to rectifying the situation. Regarding singer Jack, on October 29, 2025, his authorized representative, Ms. Tran Thi Cam Loan, met with the Department. During the meeting, Ms. Loan stated that singer Jack was aware of the violation and committed to not repeating it, while also expressing a desire to be given the opportunity to continue his artistic activities in accordance with the law.

The Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports affirms that it will strengthen coordination with relevant agencies to more strictly manage artistic performances in the area. The goal is to ensure that all activities comply with the law, are wholesome and civilized, while resolutely preventing artistic products with offensive content or those contrary to traditional customs and morals.
The agency also called on artists and those working in the arts to spread patriotism, national pride, and love for Hanoi through creative and humane works, contributing to building the city into a leading creative center and art destination.
