Pulling the net to the surface on October 18, a group of fishermen in Hangzhou were surprised to see a giant black carp. CCTV News reported that the fish weighed 90 kg and was 1.75 m long, equivalent to an adult human.
This is the heaviest and longest grass carp ever discovered in the Van Dao Lake. A fisherman confirmed that with such a large size, with just a flick of its tail, the fish could knock down and render an adult unconscious.
The fishermen named the fish “Kingfish” and transferred it to a breeding facility. However, the fish died a few hours after being caught. The cause of death is still unknown. Experts speculate that it may have been injured while being caught in the net and dragged ashore.
