Defendants in the case of 3 soldiers sacrificed in Dong Tam express regret
In court, the defendants expressed remorse and apologized to the families of the three police officers who died in the incident.

The defendants' remorse
Answering the interrogation in court, defendant Bui Viet Hieu (born in 1943) admitted that he and Mr. Le Dinh Kinh had established the "Consensus Group". "The defendant told me to stop following the "Consensus Group", but Mr. Kinh said, "Once you start something, you have to finish it", so the defendant continued", defendant Hieu's testimony.
Defendant Hieu also admitted to going up to Mr. Kinh's ceiling and throwing two bottles of gasoline "bombs" at the authorities.
Responding to questioning,accusedCong disagreed with the accusation that he and others were the masterminds.
Regarding the source of money to buy weapons, Cong khai that was the money that people had previously raised to hire a lawyer, but only gave the lawyer more than 20 million. The remaining amount, people contributed more to have 33 million to buy grenades.
The defendant admitted to throwing bricks, petrol bombs, and grenades at the police and expressed remorse: “I am extremely remorseful, especially for the sacrifice of the three police comrades.”
Answering the question: What does the defendant perceive about his actions?, Cong stated: After being arrested and detained, knowing about the sacrifice of the 3 police officers, the defendant felt very remorseful. The defendant sincerely apologizes to the 3 families of the 3 officers who sacrificed, hoping that the 3 families will forgive the defendants.
The defendant also sincerely recognized his mistakes and confessed to the investigation agency. The defendant hopes to receive leniency from the Party, the State and the law.
During the interrogation, defendant Tuyen asked the Party, the State, and the court to consider giving him the lightest sentence possible, because at home he has two elderly mothers, his wife is often sick, and his family life is difficult.
Defendant Le Dinh Chuc admitted to throwing 3 petrol bombs and grenades at the police.
According to Chuc's testimony, after knowing that several people had fallen into the hole, the defendant ordered someone else to carry a bucket of gasoline to pour into the hole. The defendant also held an iron pipe with a pig-stabbing knife attached and poked it into the hole...
Answering the question: "Did the defendant know there were 3 people in the hole?", Chuc replied: The defendant did not know exactly how many people there were.ConfessionFor his criminal behavior, Chuc hopes to enjoy leniency from the law.
On September 8, the trial continued with the questioning.
Indictment
According to the indictment, Hanoi Police coordinated with the Mobile Police Command (Ministry of Public Security) and other forces to deploy forces to implement a plan to ensure security and order in Dong Tam commune.
After learning the above information, around early November 2019, under the direction of Mr. Le Dinh Kinh, defendants Bui Viet Hieu, Nguyen Van Tuyen, Le Dinh Cong and others discussed buying grenades and preparing weapons, tools, and vehicles to attack the police force on duty.
The indictment determined that Cong went online to learn how to make weapons and found a way to make a gasoline "bomb."
Along with directing his accomplices to prepare tools and means to oppose the police force on duty, on January 1, Cong, Mr. Le Dinh Kinh, Hieu and Tuyen organized video recording, live recording and posting video clips on social networks and the Internet, declaring threats and killing the police force.
Cong was the one who declared: "If the police force comes to Dong Tam, they will not arrest anyone anymore. The more people they bring back, the better. If they cannot eliminate 300-500 people, they will not look at the people of the whole country anymore."
Hieu declared: “We poured rocks on all the roads, then sticks, weapons. To tell you the truth, there must have been 200 liters of gasoline; 20 brand new gas cylinders, and even explosives because we lived near an explosives factory, so they knew in advance and were afraid to do anything...”
This act of the defendants was intended to strengthen the spirit of the subjects in the "Consensus Group", at the same time attract and incite other subjects to participate in threatening the functional forces and government officials and people of Dong Tam commune.
The accusation is that Cong, along with Mr. Le Dinh Kinh and others, organized meetings many times to discuss ways to oppose and attack the police force. Cong instructed the subjects: "We must fight to the death, rather than lose our land."
Cong also declared: “... Kill 200 or more men and require women to also fight, follow Cong's instructions and gather all prepared weapons at Le Dinh Kinh's house to destroy the police force”.
On January 8, after receiving information that the police would come to Hoanh village that evening, Cong informed his accomplices to go to Mr. Kinh's house to discuss how to attack the police on duty.
After hearing Mr. Kinh, Cong and Tuyen's incitement, they all agreed to sleep at Mr. Kinh's house, Le Dinh Chuc, to prepare to fight against the authorities.
Early the next morning, Cong and other subjects used petrol bombs, bricks, rocks, and firecrackers to attack the police force.
