According to this document, the Ministry of Health stated that currently, due to disruptions in the supply of 6-in-1 and 5-in-1 vaccines from Glaxo SmithKline and Sanofi Pasteur, the provision of vaccination services outside the Expanded Immunization Program (EIP) is not meeting the public's needs for these vaccines, especially in some major cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, and Can Tho.
The disruption in the supply of these vaccines has caused public outrage and led to a wait-and-see attitude towards private vaccination services, creating a risk of disease outbreaks in these areas, while the Ministry of Health always ensures a sufficient supply of vaccines against similar diseases in the expanded immunization program.
To ensure that children receive all vaccinations on schedule and to prevent situations where people are not vaccinated or have to wait for vaccinations from private vaccination services similar to those in the expanded immunization program, the Ministry of Health requests that the Directors of Provincial Health Departments and Heads of units under the Ministry direct relevant units to strengthen communication, dissemination, and counseling on the benefits of vaccination, types of vaccines, and quality of vaccines in the expanded immunization program to encourage people to receive all vaccinations on schedule as part of the expanded immunization program.
Local health departments should direct state-owned medical facilities that provide vaccination services to administer vaccines included in the Expanded Immunization Program, corresponding to the types of vaccines that the facility provides as a service.
Regarding vaccine supply, the Ministry of Health requires the Drug Administration Department to take the lead and coordinate with the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology in ensuring sufficient vaccine supply for the expanded immunization program.
The Department of Preventive Medicine is responsible for guiding the organization and implementation of this document and for monitoring and inspecting its execution.
The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology is responsible for distributing vaccines and medical equipment for the expanded immunization program at service immunization facilities.
