Healthcare facilities in Nghe An province have been actively implementing measures to prevent and control the Covid-19 epidemic; and are ready to respond to any outbreaks that may occur.
Ready to admit and treat patients.
Following the directives of the Ministry of Health and the Nghe An Department of Health, health units in the province are currently actively implementing measures to respond to the epidemic situation.Covid-19.
At Nghe An Friendship General Hospital - the largest hospital in the province - the hospital's management board has directed the Center for Tropical Diseases to develop a plan for admitting and treating patients.Covid-19In the new situation, the Department of Outpatient Services is directed to perform diagnostic work effectively, aiming for early detection of cases (if any), and to intensify communication with patients seeking treatment to implement infection prevention measures and protect their personal health. Departments and wards are also directed to strengthen infection control measures to minimize the spread of disease within the unit.

Dr. Que Anh Tram, Director of the Center for Tropical Diseases at Nghe An Friendship General Hospital, said: "Previously, the Center housed the No. 1 Intensive Care Unit of Nghe An province, specializing in treating severe Covid-19 cases. The Center had a separate campus, with sufficient personnel, medicines, and intensive care equipment."
In light of the new Covid-19 outbreak, under the direction of the hospital's board of directors, the Center has reviewed the conditions to ensure the admission and treatment of patients. Currently, the Center is ready to treat Covid-19 patients; and is also ready to provide support to other medical facilities when the outbreak situation becomes uncontrollable.

At Ky Son District Health Center, COVID-19 prevention and control activities have been activated, from the operation of the Steering Committee to the preparation for receiving and treating patients.
Dr. Sam Van Hai, Director of Ky Son District Health Center, said: The center has thoroughly disseminated the directives of the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health on COVID-19 prevention and control to its staff and health stations; directed the Department of Tropical Diseases to renovate and prepare the isolation area for operation; directed the outpatient department to do a good job of diagnosing and collecting epidemiological information on suspected cases, especially for Lao patients coming for examination and treatment; and instructed people to wear masks to prevent the disease.
Because Ky Son district has the Nam Can International Border Gate and many trails and unofficial border crossings, people from both countries frequently cross the border for interaction. Therefore, the Center has directed health stations to strengthen the dissemination of information on COVID-19 prevention and control to the people; paying special attention to suspected cases when they come for examination so that they can be isolated and treated early; and to effectively report cases for timely investigation and assessment...

Dr. Sam Van Hai added some difficulties: The lives of people in Ky Son are still very difficult. Medical examination and treatment costs are entirely covered by health insurance. Meanwhile, rapid tests to determine whether or not someone has Covid-19 are not yet accepted for reimbursement by health insurance. People do not have the means to buy rapid tests. Therefore, the Center faces difficulties in accurately identifying suspected cases of Covid-19... For now, when there is a suspected case, the Center will promptly report it and seek guidance on how to handle it.
Don't be passive or caught by surprise.
According to the monitoring system of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control: From the beginning of the year to May 16, 2025, the province recorded 17 cases of Covid-19 in 7 out of 20 districts, cities, and towns. All cases were mild, without serious complications, and there were no deaths. Specifically, Yen Thanh district had 4 cases, Vinh city had 4 cases, Nam Dan district had 3 cases, Nghia Dan district had 2 cases, Anh Son district had 2 cases, Nghi Loc district had 1 case, and Quynh Luu district had 1 case.
Dr. Chu Trong Trang, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control, said: "At this time, the center is regularly updating the developments of the epidemic in the world and in localities across the country to promptly advise the Department of Health on updating and adjusting the plan for disease prevention and control in the province."
In addition, the Center proactively monitors and closely tracks the disease situation in the area; and prepares to respond to any potential disease outbreaks.

The Nghe An Provincial Center for Disease Control has also directed its departments and divisions to carry out medical surveillance at border gates, in medical facilities, and in the community to detect and handle outbreaks promptly, preventing the spread of disease to the community; actively coordinating with press and media agencies to strengthen disease prevention communication to raise awareness and change people's behavior in protecting their own health, their families' health, and the community's health, such as wearing masks in public places, washing hands frequently, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings...
Given the evolving situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, with an increase in Covid-19 cases recorded in several countries such as Brazil, the UK, and Thailand, on May 20, 2025, the Nghe An Department of Health issued Official Letter No. 1974/SYT-NVY requesting the Health Centers of districts, cities, and towns, as well as public and private medical facilities, to proactively respond to the Covid-19 pandemic and ensure effective examination, detection, admission, and treatment of Covid-19 patients.

Director of the Nghe An Department of Health, Le Thi Hoai Chung, stated: All facilities must strictly comply with the reporting of cases as stipulated in Circular 54/2015/TT-BYT dated December 28, 2015, issued by the Minister of Health.
