Localities launch campaign to ensure traffic safety during Lunar New Year

(Baonghean.vn) - On January 5, localities held a ceremony to launch a campaign to ensure order and clear traffic safety corridors before, during and after the 2017 Lunar New Year.

To minimize human and property damage caused by traffic accidents, the People's Committee of Do Luong district has directed drastic measures to ensure traffic safety, promote propaganda, raise public awareness, organize the dismantling of 49 kiosks, 245 canopies, and confiscate 1,200 billboards and tarpaulins. In addition, the police force has organized 796 patrols, recorded and fined 4,700 cases, paid 1.7 billion VND to the State Treasury, detained 580 cases, and revoked driving licenses of 265 cases.

In 2017, in addition to continuing to do a good job of propaganda, from January 5 to February 10, Do Luong district organized a peak campaign to clear encroachment on traffic safety corridors. Immediately after the launching ceremony, 200 delegates organized a parade to propagate the campaign in the district.

In particular, with the theme that the National Traffic Safety Committee has developed as "Building traffic culture among youth", Que Phong District Police coordinated with local schools to disseminate traffic safety laws to students.

After the launching ceremony, 14 communes and towns simultaneously launched a campaign to clear traffic safety corridor violations on the main roads; striving to complete before January 25.

* Contribute to reducing the number of traffic accidents on roads and inland waterways during the upcoming Tet and Spring holidays, over the past 2 months,Thanh Chuong District Policeorganized patrols and handled violations, organized 49 patrols, recorded 19 violations, including 70 motorbikes and 96 electric motorbikes; revoked 8 licenses; fined 162 violations with a fine of over 100 million VND; organized registration of electric motorbikes for over 900 vehicles, transferred ownership of 69 motorbikes.

In addition, Thanh Chuong District Police assigned officers to inspect some ferry terminals across the river, taking measures to ensure traffic safety on inland waterways. Reminding some terminals not to exploit sand and gravel indiscriminately without a license; imposing fines on oversized and overloaded vehicles that frequently participate in traffic on roads, provincial roads, and national highways.
