Local authorities launched the 2014 Month of Action for Children.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 30, 2014, in Van Dien commune, the People's Committee of Nam Dan district organized the launching ceremony of the 2014 Action Month for Children with the theme "Acting for a society free from violence and abuse against children". Leaders from the Political Protection Department of the Provincial Police and leaders from the Nam Dan District Police attended and presented meaningful gifts on the occasion of June 1st.

Over the years, the protection, care, and education of children, especially the implementation of children's basic rights and goals for children, have always been a priority for the Party Committee, government, departments, and mass organizations from the district to the grassroots level in Nam Dan. As a result, most children in the district receive healthcare, education, recreation, and comprehensive development; the rate of children in particularly difficult circumstances receiving care reaches 98%; hundreds of children have received wheelchairs, gifts, scholarships, and free surgery and rehabilitation for disabled children.

At the launching ceremony, the People's Committee of Nam Dan district presented 10 gifts; the Youth Union of the Political Protection Department of the Provincial Police and the Nam Dan District Police presented 80 sets of clothes and 3 wheelchairs with a total value of 25 million VND; the District Labor Union presented 3 gifts; the District Women's Union presented 1 gift; and the Party Committee and the local government of Van Dien commune presented 10 gifts to poor students with particularly difficult circumstances who have excelled in their studies.

In Quynh Dy ward, the People's Committee of Hoang Mai town, in coordination with the Labor Union and the Youth Union, organized the launching ceremony of the 2014 Action Month for Children and a meeting to commend children who have overcome difficulties and excelled in their studies, in celebration of International Children's Day on June 1st.

Hoang Mai town currently has nearly 26,000 children under 16 years old, accounting for 24.4% of the total population. Of these, 2,156 children live in impoverished families, 712 are in particularly difficult circumstances, 163 are orphans and abandoned children, and 463 have severe disabilities. Children are the happiness of their families and the future owners of the country; therefore, the aim is to mobilize the entire society to protect, care for, and educate children, ensuring they live in a safe and healthy environment and have the conditions for comprehensive development in terms of physical, intellectual, and spiritual aspects.
In commemoration of the Month of Action for Children and International Children's Day on June 1st, 2014, Hoang Mai Town requests that all levels of government, departments, and mass organizations at the commune and ward levels intensify propaganda efforts to raise awareness and responsibility among each family and the entire society regarding the role and importance of protecting, caring for, and educating children. Simultaneously, they should develop specific plans and effectively organize and implement activities that align with the theme, ensuring practicality. They should effectively carry out the activities of the Month of Action for Children in 2014; organize many beneficial recreational activities for poor children and children with special difficulties, creating equal opportunities for their development; and mobilize all resources and contributions from philanthropists.
At the launching ceremony, the People's Committee of Hoang Mai Town presented 50 gifts to 50 students from junior high and high schools in the town who achieved outstanding academic results despite difficult circumstances in the 2013-2014 school year.

On the morning of May 30th, Vinh City held a ceremony to launch the 2014 Month of Action for Children.
Currently, Vinh City has 1875 children in extremely difficult circumstances, including 304 orphans and 325 children with disabilities. With the theme "Acting for a society free from violence and child abuse," Vinh City organized a launching ceremony to raise awareness and responsibility among Party committees, government agencies, organizations, and the community in caring for and educating children. The aim is to build a safe, healthy, and friendly environment for children, prevent violence and abuse against children, and prevent accidents and injuries. Simultaneously, it seeks to mobilize social resources to support and assist these children.
At the launching ceremony, Vinh City implemented a commitment signing to carry out the contents of the 2014 Action Month for Children and presented gifts to 30 children in particularly difficult circumstances, each gift worth 600,000 VND.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dinh Van Thi, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the town, urged organizations, localities, and sectors to continue implementing programs and action goals for children. He also called on businesses, individuals, and the community to join hands in caring for children and providing them with the best possible opportunities. At the ceremony, the town commended 30 underprivileged students who excelled academically despite difficult circumstances; town leaders presented 45 gifts to students who overcame difficulties and achieved academic excellence, totaling 22,500,000 VND.
