- For the 2013 spring crop, Quy Hop district plans to plant 2,312 hectares, an increase of 62 hectares compared to the previous season. The increase in rice area is due to communes in the upland areas such as Tam Hop, Nghia Xuan, and Dong Hop converting land from corn and peanuts to rice. Currently, localities are focusing on plowing the land, building field and plot embankments, and preparing for simultaneous planting from January 10th to 15th, 2013. This spring, the district has re-selected four rice varieties for structuring. In the outer areas, the main varieties are PHB71, GS9, and LC25, with Nhi Uu 838 not included. In the inner areas, LC25 accounts for 35%, GS9 and PHB71 for 10%, and Nhi Uu 838 no more than 50%. Each commune will not have more than two rice varieties planted. To ensure the planned distribution of rice varieties, the District Department of Agriculture contacted provincial departments and agencies to supply more than 25 tons of various rice seeds to local farmers for production.

- Farmers in Dien Chau are currently sowing 200 hectares of rice seedlings for the spring crop. A new development in Dien Chau's spring crop production is the increase in the proportion of high-quality purebred rice varieties to nearly 30% of the planted area. Hybrid rice, which dominated in previous years, has now decreased to 70%. Farmers are strictly adhering to technical procedures for sowing seedlings. According to the target, Dien Chau will plant 9,000 hectares of rice in the spring of 2013 and will strive to complete the planting before the Lunar New Year.

- To date, Do Luong district has completed the planting of rice seedlings, the first and second cropping seasons, with nearly 100 tons of seeds, mainly hybrid rice varieties. To help farmers protect their seedlings from the cold and ensure the safety of the 2013 spring crop, the People's Committee of Do Luong district has instructed the Department of Agriculture and the Plant Protection Station to organize teams to visit communes to inspect and guide farmers in planting seedlings covered with nylon, adding wood ash, and ensuring adequate water levels to keep the seedlings warm. Planting should be avoided if the temperature drops below 15°C.

- This spring, Tan Ky district planted 3,600 hectares of rice, with hybrid rice varieties accounting for 70-75% of the area, including varieties such as Nhi Uu 838, Nhi Uu 986, Nhi Uu 725, B-TE1, Khai Phong 1, etc. The district aims to achieve a production target of 32,100 tons of food. Besides directing farmers to cover seedlings with plastic sheeting as soon as they sow, the District Department of Agriculture and Rural Development also ensures the full supply of rice seeds and agricultural materials for production, and promotes awareness of the effectiveness of building model rice fields.

- To date, in addition to over 2,000 hectares of early spring rice seedlings already growing green in Hung Nguyen, Nam Dan, and Nghi Loc districts, in some other localities, people have also started transplanting seedlings for the main spring rice crop 7-10 days earlier than the scheduled planting season. According to a quick summary, this area of seedlings is sufficient for transplanting approximately 6,000 hectares of spring rice, concentrated in Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, and Nghi Loc districts.

People in Lien Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district, are urgently preparing the land for the spring planting season.

The weather forecast for the coming days indicates continued cold and rainy conditions. According to the Department of Agriculture's recommendations, localities that have not yet sown rice seedlings must strictly adhere to the planting schedule. Sowing and transplanting too early could lead to late-season cold spells, affecting yields. Simultaneously, proper plastic mulching and insecticide spraying to control rice planthoppers are crucial. For newly sown seedlings that are not yet covered with plastic, 100% of the area should be covered to protect against cold and prevent rice dwarf disease in the spring crop.
