(Baonghean.vn) - On August 6, activities took place to visit and give gifts to victims of Agent Orange and provide free medical examinations for the elderly in the province.

*Association of Agent Orange Victims of Yen Thanh Districtvisited and gave gifts to families of Agent Orange victims in the area.

In Khanh Thanh commune, the Association visited and presented gifts to Ms. Nguyen Thi Giang (born in 1988), in Van Nam hamlet, Khanh Thanh commune, who was indirectly infected with Agent Orange from her father, and veteran Ngo Cong Quy (born in 1938) in Giap Ngoi hamlet, Long Thanh commune, who was infected with Agent Orange during the war against the US; each gift was worth 300,000 VND.

Previously, the Association of Agent Orange Victims of Yen Thanh district also supported the renovation of a house for Agent Orange victims, worth 15 million VND.

This is an activity to commemorate the 58th anniversary of Agent Orange Disaster Day in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - August 10, 2019), to share and encourage the spirit of families to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.

*Provincial Red Cross Society in coordination with Nghe An Provincial Farmers' AssociationOrganized the inauguration ceremony, handed over the Red Cross house, gave gifts to families in especially difficult circumstances and poor students in Thanh Tung commune, Thanh Chuong district.

At the ceremony, representatives of the Red Cross and the Provincial Farmers' Association presented 50 million VND to support Le Van Loi's family in building a house. With the help of the Provincial Association, the District Farmers' Association donated 10 million VND and called on neighbors to donate money and labor to help the family build a solid house worth over 150 million VND.

On this occasion, the Provincial Red Cross presented 8 water purifiers and 10 gifts to poor households and poor students who overcame difficulties to study well.

In order to share the difficulties and great losses of the families of the crew members who were in the accident of fishing boat NA85899TS of Tien Thuy commune that occurred on June 28, 2019 in the sea of ​​Bach Long Vy, the officials, civil servants, employees of the District Party Committee - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee and the departments and unions of Quynh Luu district have donated and supported the amount of 60 million VND.

From this amount, Quynh Luu district has established 6 savings books, each worth 10 million VND, to give to 6 children of the crew members who are in especially difficult circumstances, including: Nguyen Khanh Ngoc and Nguyen Khanh Ha (children of crew member Nguyen Van Hoa); Nguyen Binh An (child of crew member Nguyen Van Manh); Nguyen Tan Tai, Nguyen Bao Nhat and Nguyen Thi Nha Uyen (children of crew member Nguyen Ngoc Tan).

* Association for the Support of the Disabled and Orphans of Nghia Dan DistrictThe organization presented 3 gifts, each worth 500,000 VND, to 3 victims of Agent Orange in the area, including: Mr. Manh Trong Duc, born in 1949, in hamlet 4 and Mr. Phan Van Hoang, born in 1984, in hamlet 7, Nghia Trung commune; Mr. Phan Van Linh, born in 1973, in Tan Thai block, Nghia Dan town.

This is one of the activities in response to the Month of Action for Agent Orange Victims, deployed from August 5 to September 5, 2019 by the Association for the Protection of People with Disabilities and Orphans of Nghia Dan District.

Here, doctors and nurses screened and detected eye diseases for the elderly and referred patients for treatment at higher-level hospitals.
