Poor elastic shock absorber
This is also a part that makes the car no longer feel as smooth as when it was first delivered from the dealer. To detect this problem, we have to go through a bad road with continuous jolting. From there, you will feel the very uncomfortable jolting. Normally, we will also find it difficult to detect the problem if we just go around the city. And only in real testing conditions, an old car with shock absorbers that are near the end of its life will reveal its weaknesses.
Engine cover leaking oil
Used cars after 3-5 years of use in the Vietnamese market are very likely to have oil leaks in the engine cover, especially cheap and popular cars. However, if we are not careful to check carefully, car buyers will easily overlook this basic error. After a while, the aging engine oil seal will leak on top. If a car is not cleaned in the engine compartment regularly, we will often mistake it for ordinary stains.
If we do not replace this seal, we will experience oil loss, which can lead to the car running out of oil. The engine will work harder and consume more fuel. If it is severe, it can cause the engine to overheat, boil water, and the exhaust pipe will emit black smoke due to engine burn.
A worn-out belt bearing or a worn-out compressor is a sound that should not be ignored when inspecting a used car. To detect the above problem, we just need to start the engine after about 5-10 minutes. When the engine is idling, and the air conditioner is on, we will hear strange noises coming from under the hood. This is a basic sign that is very easy to recognize.
