Fines for violations when flying

Smoking on a passenger plane can result in a fine of 3-5 million VND, and opening an emergency exit without permission can result in a fine of 10-20 million VND.

Recently, on flight VJ126 from Saigon to Hanoi, a passenger was fined 4 million VND for smoking in the aircraft’s restroom. In addition to the smoking ban, Vietnamese airlines and foreign airlines operating in the flight information region managed by Vietnam also impose penalties for other violations.

Below are some violations and fines that many Vietnamese tourists commit when flying, based on Decree 147 on administrative sanctions in the field of civil aviation:

Bringing liquids on board:Warning or fine of 100,000 - 500,000 VND.

Smoking on the plane:The fine for this violation is 3-5 million VND. If tourists smoke in a non-smoking area in the airport, the fine is 5-10 million VND.

Stealing life jackets:5-10 million VND is the fine if a tourist steals a life jacket on a plane. In case a passenger arbitrarily tears the life jacket, the fine will be 1-3 million VND.

Opening the emergency exit without permission:Fine 10-20 million VND.

Unfastening seat belt:This is an act of not following instructions on ensuring order, security and aviation safety, the fine is 1-3 million VND.

Using the phone on the plane:The fine is 3-5 million VND. In addition to telephones, the regulation also prohibits electronic devices and broadcasting equipment in general.

Using fake documents:Visitors entering quarantine areas and boarding planes using other people's identification documents or boarding passes will be fined 5-10 million VND.

Quarreling and yelling on the plane:Fine of 5-10 million VND. This is also the fine for tourists who disrupt security and order in restricted areas of airports, airfields and places with civil aviation facilities, equipment and facilities.

In case the tourist does not pay the fine, the highest penalty that will be implemented is a flight ban.
