The actions of the Ukrainian authorities were not only condemned by international organizations, international journalists also supported their position.
According to CNN expert Jill Doherty, Babchenko's "resurrection" could undermine Ukraine's confidence around the world.
“All of this does great harm to journalism, and ultimately it does harm to Ukraine and its credibility around the world. I think it is a real cruelty that ultimately harms the people who organize it,” she said.
In Ukraine, the SBU's statement about the fake murder was perceived as ambiguous. Therefore, politician and human rights activist Vladimir Oleinik called the incident a shameful show and did not rule out that the case would continue to develop.
"This action confirms that there is a mess in Ukraine Prime Minister Groisman expressed his condolences, Foreign Minister Klimkin "raised" the UN. They also did not know that they were being used covertly," he said on Sputnik radio.
