Schools in the mountainous areas of Nghe An have organized many plans to limit students from dropping out of school after Tet.
(Baonghean.vn) - Solutions have been proposed to limit the number of students dropping out of school after Tet, especially in schools in mountainous districts.
Boarding schools "pull" students to school
The first days back to school after the Tet holiday of teachers and students of Muong Tip 2 Primary Boarding School - Ky Son were very special, when the school welcomed the leaders of the district and departments in the district to visit and give lucky money.

Holding small gifts such as milk boxes, candies, and lucky money envelopes in their hands, the boys and girls of the school could not hide their joy. Although the Tet gifts were small, they became memorable memories for the students away from home in the first days of the new year.
As of today, 100% of the students from grades 1 to 5 of the school have attended school instead of 4 students absent like yesterday. Although the after-effects of Tet still remain, the teaching and learning activities of the school have returned to normal, ensuring that teaching and learning activities are carried out according to the prescribed number of periods.

Professional groups and teams are also ready to prepare for extracurricular activities and competitions for the second semester such as organizing the Golden Bell competition to celebrate major holidays in March and the school's outstanding student competition.
Sharing more about the atmosphere in the first days of the new year, teacher Tran Gia Thao - Principal of the school said: Muong Tip 2 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities is one of the first schools to implement the boarding model at the primary level in Ky Son district.
After nearly 5 years of implementation, thanks to the implementation of boarding, students at the school have been attending school regularly and have not missed as many classes as in previous years. Parents, although having to work far away, can rest assured because at school, their children are cared for, worried about and guaranteed living and studying conditions.

Before that, to help students enjoy Spring, stay at school, stay in class, before Tet, the school board also organized many activities to welcome Spring such as organizing traditional games, wrapping and cooking banh chung, giving gifts to students before going home for Tet. In the last meetings with the commune government, the school also asked the commune and relevant departments and agencies to coordinate to propagate to parents not to let their children stay home from school and return to school on time so that the school can soon stabilize teaching and learning.
At My Ly - Ky Son Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, on the morning of February 16, there were still 26 students who had not yet arrived at school, 4 students less than yesterday.
Although the number of students absent from school is still quite large, teacher Tran Van Quy - the school's principal believes that students will soon return to school because the school has a clear list of all absent students, carefully investigated the reasons and has not encountered any "worrying" cases.
"In My Ly commune, there are quite a few families working in the southern provinces. According to the customs of ethnic minorities in the area, before leaving their families, they will hold ceremonies and parties and the children will stay at home until the end of this week and return to school early next week," said Mr. Quy.

Currently, My Ly Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities has more than 300 students. Of these, 2/3 are boarding students at the school, so as soon as the students return to school, the school has organized boarding, ensuring that the students can study with peace of mind right in the first days of the new year.
Due to the nature of a school with a large number of Mong and Thai students, the school has recently paid special attention to students dropping out of school early to get married.
This year, in order to implement the policy of preventing child marriage, before the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin, the school coordinated with the commune government and relevant departments and agencies to organize propaganda and mobilization in each village.

During the time students were on vacation, although some villages such as Huoi Khoi village above, Cha Lat village above, Huoi Phi village were far from the center, the phone signal was unstable, the school teachers still tried to regularly contact the village chief and parents and students living far away. Some villages also had their own phones, placed in places with stable signal so that the school could easily connect with parents, so the communication was not interrupted much.
The situation of students arriving late to school after the long Tet holiday has been happening for many years in the area due to the unique characteristics of customs and practices. This year, to limit this situation, the Department of Education and Training has directed schools to maintain teaching and organizing boarding on the first day of leave after Tet and to increase the mobilization of students to go to school according to the plan.
According to initial statistics, many schools have nearly 100% student attendance, such as Muong Tip 2 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Ta Ca Primary Boarding School, Chieu Luu 2 Primary Boarding School, Pha Danh Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, and the town. Meanwhile, some schools in remote communes such as Na Ngoi and My Ly still have students who do not attend school fully.
Exciting activities to open the new year
After nearly 2 weeks of Tet holiday, on January 6th of the lunar calendar, all students in Nghe An province returned to school as planned. Teaching and learning at school soon returned to normal.
Before Tet, the Department of Education and Training issued a document requesting educational institutions to grasp the number of students in each locality and village to coordinate with local authorities, mass organizations, and associations to find solutions to mobilize students to go to school when there are fluctuations in the number after Tet. In addition, it urged homeroom teachers and subject teachers to pay attention to understanding the actual situation of students to have solutions to help students in their studies as well as in their daily lives.
At the beginning of the new year, the Department of Education and Training also encouraged schools to organize cultural, sports, and skills education activities, focusing on organizing extracurricular activities, boarding and semi-boarding activities at schools with boarding and semi-boarding students to create useful playgrounds to attract students to school.

Implementing this policy, in the first two days of returning to school, many schools in Nghe An have carried out many meaningful activities. At Le Viet Thuat High School (Vinh City), with the theme "Happy Spring of Giap Thin", the school's spring festival on the first day of the new year was really attractive, attracting the participation of more than 2,000 teachers and students. With a structure of 3 parts including "Brilliant Spring Opening", "Happy Spring of Giap Thin", "Early Spring Meeting", the festival was organized with many activities such as the opening ceremony, cultural and artistic programs celebrating the Party, celebrating Spring, and the Spring book fair.

At Trung Do Primary School (Vinh City), on the first day of the school year, the school's English club organized the Golden Bell contest, attracting a large number of students to participate. Going up Highway 48, Dong Hieu - Nghia Dan High School organized sports games such as tug of war, soccer, etc.

These meaningful activities not only bring a joyful and exciting atmosphere to teachers and students on the first day back to school after the Lunar New Year holiday. At the same time, they educate students about preserving and promoting national cultural traditions, helping students and teachers unite, strive together, and compete to complete the school year's tasks and reach the finish line successfully./.
