How to "entice" your child to love reading books
There is no way to make people better and increase their knowledge faster and more than reading books. Books bring knowledge, understanding, living culture and much more. Books are limited resources but for a person, they bring endless benefits.
According to Dr. Vu Thu Huong - Lecturer at Hanoi Pedagogical University: Books have a characteristic of "the pen drops, the chicken dies" so they are often edited and verified very carefully. Therefore, the information in books is more authentic and serious than information copied from the internet.
Nowadays, many children are more interested in playing games, surfing the web, and using phones and computers than reading books. Therefore, to help children form the habit and gradually become “addicted” to reading books, we will need to do specific things to “entice” them instead of talking.

Teach your children to read. |
For preschool age
At this age, children do not know how to read yet, so many parents think that there is no need to teach them to read. This is a completely wrong point of view. If you want your child to love books, you should start right from this stage and there are many ways to do it.
Method 1:You put in your child's room a bookshelf with lots of beautiful books, with pictures, some lines of text, not many but enough for us to "read". Every day, at certain times like before going to bed, we will read 1 or 2 small books to the child. The child has the right to choose the books for his mother to read.
The way to read is that the mother reads very slowly, very slowly and in a soft voice. The child will fall asleep gently with the mother's voice reading and the child will definitely have very sweet dreams. This way will make the child more interested in books.
Method 2:Take your child to the bookstore to choose a book to read. Show your child a book with beautiful pictures and say it is very interesting. Then tell your child about half of the story and then stop to do something else. Make sure your child is curious and opens the book. When your mother has free time, your child will ask you to read the book to him. Gradually, your child will love books.
Parents can do both if they have time. Then parents will see how much their children love books.
40 Day Rule - For children who can read
The important thing to remember is the 40 day rule (An action repeated for 40 days will form a habit).
With this rule, parents just need to remember how to make their children read books for 40 days at a certain time. Absolutely do not skip it no matter what day it is. After 40 days, the child will form a habit and voluntarily take out books to read. At that time, the mother just needs to ask what the child read today. Surely parents will be surprised at what the child has learned.
There are many ways to get your child to read and they are all effective. It could be a punishment for a mistake and they are forced to sit in one place. While your child is sitting in one place and can destroy things, parents can give them a book to read. (Don't think that books are sacred and cannot be used as a punishment. Any way your child reads is good.)
It is simpler to create a schedule for your child and reading will take up 1 hour of that fixed schedule. Every day, no matter how busy you are, parents must ask their children to read at that time, continuously for 40 days. When your child finishes reading, do not forget to ask them what they have read, tell them and share their feelings with their parents.
This method can be applied to all children who are literate. Parents who apply it persistently will see that their children's learning is much more effective because they will learn a lot more knowledge and discipline through reading time. Their knowledge is also significantly richer and more diverse with the treasure trove of knowledge that books bring.
