(Baonghean.vn) - In the days leading up to Tet, students in some localities in the mountainous region of Nghe An often have the habit of "taking an early Tet holiday". In order for students to attend school regularly, Nam Can Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Ky Son District) has organized Tet activities to keep students.

Nam Can Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities (Ky Son District) has more than 150 Mong students. In previous years, many Mong students often took Tet holidays early, affecting teaching and learning. Principal Lo Kham Phu said this was the third time the school had organized this activity for the students because most of the students here are Mong and have difficult circumstances. "We want to create a warm atmosphere like a real Tet holiday so that the students can feel its meaning," said Mr. Phu. Photo: Nguyen Sach
Teachers who are proficient in "their craft" are mobilized by the school to guide the students. Most of the students are confused when they first start wrapping. After being guided a few times, many students eagerly follow along. Photo: Nguyen Book
“It’s so difficult, uncle. Before, I only saw how to wrap banh chung and banh tet on TV, but I had never wrapped them before. At home, we don’t eat this kind of cake during Tet, and no one wraps it, so I couldn’t make it. Luckily, thanks to the teachers organizing the event, I learned how to make it. When I go home tomorrow for Tet, I will wrap it for everyone to eat,” an 8th grade male student said with a smile. Photo: Sach Nguyen

These cakes are all organized by teachers for the children to eat right at school. Team leader Nguyen Van Dai said that in previous years, when Tet was approaching, many Mong students were absent from school because they wanted to stay home to play and help their parents. When teachers organized Tet right at school, this situation decreased significantly. Photo: Dao Tho
