How to start the car when the smart car key battery is dead
With cars equipped with smart keys, you just need to press a button to start the engine, however, many people cannot start the car when the key battery is dead.
Smart Key is one of the popular equipment on car models today (even many new motorbike models now have this equipment). With this equipment, you will not need to put the key in the ignition but can still start the car normally with an Engine Start Stop button on the car.
Specifically, for cars equipped with smart keys, the driver only needs to have the key in hand and approach, press the button or touch the door handle and all the car doors will open. Then, step on the brake (clutch for manual transmission cars) and press the Engine Start Stop button on the car and the car will start. However, before starting the engine, make sure the gear lever is in the "P" position.

Smart Key is now quite popular and almost standard in current generation cars. |
Conversely, when you want to stop the car, just shift to “P” and press the Engine Start Stop button again, the car will turn off. And after getting out of the car, you just need to press the button on the door handle again to lock the car.
However, that is in case your car key is working normally and has battery. But in case the car key battery is dead, you will have to do more steps to start the car. It is worth noting that in reality, many drivers do not know this and are very confused or cannot start the car when the key battery is dead.
So, in case your car key battery runs out, follow these steps to start your car normally:
First, remove the mechanical key from the Smart key by pressing the pin on the key and then pulling the mechanical key out. Use the mechanical key to open the lock cover on the door handle. Many cars do not have this cover and leave it exposed on the outside, so you do not need to do this step.

For vehicles equipped with smart keys, the driver simply needs to step on the brake and press the Engine Start Stop button for the vehicle to start. |
Then, you use the mechanical key to unlock the door (you do the same as using a traditional key) and step into the car.
Next, you can start the car. The starting method will be similar to normal starting (step on the brake and press the Engine Start Stop button), but note that you do not have to press it manually as usual, but press it with the smart key. So you can start the car.Or for some car models equipped with a charging socket for the smart key right on the car, after you open the door, insert the key into the charging socket, then step on the brake and press the Engine Start Stop button as usual./.
The Smart Key System was first developed by Europe's largest electrical company Siemens AG in 1995 and first introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1998 on the luxury S-class W220. At that time, Mercedes did not call it Smart key but called it "Key-less Go" and this name is still used today.
