The village came to offer condolences to Mrs. Pham Thi Hong's family. |
Lying on the rickety bed, Mrs. Hong had no strength left, occasionally forcing herself to get up and cry for her son. The tears of the unfortunate woman had dried up because of the pain of her gentle son's death.
Mr. Phuc, Mrs. Hong's husband, was sitting and chatting when he suddenly fainted. He had a congenital leg defect and was not as smart as normal people. He was in poor health so he could only help his wife with small chores around the house.
As a weak woman, Ms. Hong had to take on all the heavy work in the family for her husband, doing all kinds of jobs to earn money to raise her children. In 2016, she was often sick and discovered she had liver cancer. When her life was in danger every day, she received the news that her son had died.
Born into such a difficult family situation, Nguyen Ba Dao has always studied hard and helped his parents with housework since he was young. Dao's academic achievements were very impressive, and during his high school years, he was always a shining example for his friends to follow. The day her son brought home his results from the Maritime University and happily showed them to his mother, Mrs. Hong was so happy that she couldn't hold back her tears but couldn't help but worry about the road ahead. Dao carried his youthful dream into university. Although life was difficult, the whole family overcame it to raise Dao to study and grow up.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Phuc is not as agile as normal people and his health is weak so he cannot help his family much. |
After graduating from university, due to his family's poverty and inability to find a job in his field of study, Dao drifted into working as a factory worker in Binh Duong with a very simple dream of earning money to pay for medicine for his parents and younger brother.
But disaster struck unexpectedly. On November 29, on his way home from work, Dao was involved in a traffic accident and had to be rushed to Cho Ray Hospital. Despite the hospital’s best efforts to save him, Dao passed away after nearly a week of treatment due to his severe injuries.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Tham, Mr. Phuc's nephew, said: "Since Dao had an accident and died, the family had to ask his uncle to take a bus to the South to take care of everything. With the help of the community, my uncle's family had the money to bring Dao's body back to his hometown for burial."
Mr. Nguyen Huu Hai - Vice Chairman of Lang Thanh Commune People's Committee said: "Mr. Phuc's family is in a particularly difficult situation. He and his youngest son are not as clear-minded as normal people, and Mrs. Hong is seriously ill and has just undergone a long-term surgery and is in very poor health. Dao was a good son, filial to his parents and the family's greatest hope, but unfortunately passed away. I hope the community will join hands to help the family overcome the current difficulties soon."
